i just attempted to do some paint work on my AE86 mini z body. and of course the paint bleed like a bitch also locked the rear diff. maybe it'll be easier to drift now? used RTV so if i don't like it i can undo it.
finished trimming and mounting a new body on my Nitro RS4 2. ordered paint last night. more on that at a later date.
also remembering an RC car i had when i was maybe 8(?) it was a red C4 Corvette. ruffly 1/20 scale. for some reason remembering it had Chef Boyardee logo's on it but after googling around for 10 minutes i can't find shit. edit: you know what. it may have been Kool-Aid. Chef Boyardee was the hot wheel...

St dragn, I know you probably heard this 100 or more times so tell me to get fucked if you desire. Are you spraying your paint too heavy? Super important to spray super light and flash dry for a few coats to seal the edges of any masking. I used to use some stuff that I believe Parma(?) made a while back. Looked kinda milky until it dried clear. Stuff was great for mixing with metal flake (powder) and laying a few coats down before color, and was great at preventing bleed through. I’d give the areas around any masking a couple of light sprays before starting with any colors. Now I’m gonna see if anyone sells that sort of thing currently.

ok. get fucked it wasn't to thick, i put it on so thin it took 5 coats to get full coverage and i was setting the body outside in the sun for 30 minutes to flash between coats. i no doubt had more than a few issues. the tape i used was 1/8" fine line tape that's probably 15 years old. it's still sticky and seems to work fine if i use an air brush (i used it on an RC body about 6 months ago), but i was using a can of Testors that's god only knows how old. my garage was also 62 degrees so it was to cold. i didn't warm the can, just shook the shit out of it. and the can spit a few times. and one of the places it spit on the first coat is where it bleed the most.
oddly enough the 1 medium wet coat of primer i spayed an hour earlier didn't bleed
a Mini Z body is like a model car body and iv been building model cars long enough that it's not a big deal. just time consuming to fix and that's mostly what im pissed about.

^I tend to get paint bleed cos of too thick coats, but that's because I have no patience need the paint to hurry the fk up and dry.

My major problem tho is fisheyes. Sometime around COVID kicking off, I am convinced Tamiya changed the formulation for their spray can paints. It has too much propellant and the solvents used are different, it definitely goes on the body different. It also doesn't smell quite as bad as it used to.
