I agree with your reasons. But just know that if you open fire on a member of the government, even in just, you are automatically dead.
I always hated that double standard. Seems like only law enforcement can open fire in self defense and largely get benefit of the doubt, but a civilian opens fire on someone and self defense and gets treated like a criminal. Like you have to have one hell of a compelling case why you gunned down the asshat that kicked your door in. And they have to still be facing and approaching you when you shoot. If forensics show they turned to flee, then your self defense becomes murder. Mean while police have shot mother fuckers in the back plenty of times without consequence.
