As the resident leftie, even I would say that law is dumb. I am FAR more adept at a lathe than a 3D printer, and I'm brown, which makes me all kinds of a potential terrorist.

A more effective way is to *maybe* restrict posting STL files of gun designs online. Or restrict very strong metal powders/filaments. Or perhaps not bother at all, seeing I have yet to hear about anyone being killed with a 3d printed gun.

I bought an old American pacemaker lathe from the 1940s from a local marine yard here for 500 dollars I lubed everything checked the wiring, did calibration checks, and now the thing is working just fine, and with that, I can literally machine any barrel I want far more deadly than any current 3D printable material and yes that includes the super duper expensive pek which one roll of is the same cost as the lathe. Now when I finally find land I want a cincinnati mill.
