you'd have to go so far out in the desert you'd be in Arizona the desert is full of crazy. that's where all the white trash, rednecks, methheads, anarchists'/off grid people end up. also a fair amount of coyote/cartel activity. and there's still homeless people out there.
to escape as much crazy as possible you'd have to go to the central part of the state where all the farm land is. it still has problems but not like the big cities. or way up 80-100 miles north of Sacramento. lots of hippy's up there but from what iv heard they're the old school mellow type.

If the white trash and redneck are like the rest of the ones in the South then I don't mind them. The same goes with the off grid people unless they are they everyone is out to kill me type. Now the homeless and methheads living in the desert is news to me, I never considered that to be a thing actually. Needles California seems small enough not to have to many wackos

i looked, it's part of San Bernardino County (aka San Berna-ghetto) so building regulations, probably still a major headache. and it's on the river so its possible to have to deal with the Coastal Commission. and if that's the case, ether wipe you ass with your money and flush it, or just cross the bridge and go to Arizona. unless you're absolutely so stupid rich and can afford someone who can navigate (bribe) your way through it

Hey guys. It's been a while for me. Not much into posting too much lately. Just a few things here and there. I love the weather and conveniences that Cali has to offer, but it's all the weirds that live here. If you're whacked out, then Cali will bow down to you. For the rest of us, we are being forced to bow down as well. It's becoming a terrible place to raise kids. When I'm retired and my kids are all moved out, I wouldn't mind getting a place closer to the ocean. Money is a issue, but to be honest, my wife and I have well-off parents. LOL... Don't spread it out there, but I live in Lodi, CA. It's a pretty chill city. I just don't like that it's so far from the ocean. I would move more east, near a lake, but the weather is just not the same.

However, if I was to move out, right now, I would probably move to Idaho.

Yikes, man. The minute you said it’s part of San Bernardino, that’s a hell no. I don’t know if you guys have seen the movie Interstellar, but the house in that movie is a perfect example of where I’d like to retire a farm in the middle of nowhere. The only thing I’d add is a lake nearby, so I can fish and still enjoy typical water activities. I don't think I'll ever completely leave Florida (I'll always want a house there), I do see myself moving up the state, tho, maybe to madison Florida.
I don't know where I remember seeing that there was an area of the desert that had nearly no building regulations.

im still looking/researching the Missouri/Kansas/ maybe Nebraska/Iowa area's. but haven't ruled out Utah, Idaho, Arizona, or Nevada. although with the amount of family i have in Virginia now i might just go there. probably go more coastal from where they are though.
i want some acreage and the fewer the neighbors the better. one of my goals is to be able to walk out my front door in my undies on a Saturday morning and pee off my front porch without catching a shit for it.


there is a place out in the desert, i forget exactly where, that has an off grid "settlement" that's more of a "commune" of society's rejects, drug addicts, conspiracy whackjobs. lots of falling apart mobile homes, and RV's out there. that's basically completely unregulated. not sure of anywhere else with little to no regulations. CA and regulations are more closely associated than sex and orgasms.
