Thanks very much. I appreciate your patience.

I'm creating a shopping list. Any recommendations on batteries and the best place to purchase this stuff?

I'm not an expert on 1s bit I know DBME likes his Hobbyking packs. They have a 1s 6000mah 65-130c pack. It is a-Spec too, I think that is the high end stuff. For $25 too, not bad.

The last batteries I used were scr nicad. Their shelf life sucked but were pretty durable. How do these compare and how many runs before they need replacing? I have read about the running too low V issue.

A few things, Dave and Robert are right the Hobbywing 1s 3.1 is one of the best out there, but it is expensive. You can use any speed control for 1s, but you will need a voltage booster if the controller is not designed for 1s voltage boosting. Essentially a speed controller not designed for 1s will not boost the voltage from the battery to the working voltage for the servo, reciever, transponder, etc, you will need to add a voltage booster to make everything work properly. Novak makes one that you can buy for about $30. I use this set up with a tekin rs on one of my Wgt cars and it works great. As for the batteries, these guys are spot on with the Hobbyking batteries, but if you are looking for high quality 1s lipo batteries, check www.rc10.com 5500mah 60c lipo free shipping 29.99. These are very strong packs with low IR.

Nothing better than approval from our "TREAS".

I just purchased the speedpassion and viper ESC. Both can run 1s or 2s without need of a booster or lipo pack! Thats the best way to go. Will be testing both at our next club race.

Hi Randy. Yes, you can probably use most of your off-road electronics. Below are some good options for 17.5 Touring. Hope to see you at our next race (April 13th).

Kit: Xray is the most popular at the track. It's durable. Even an older used Xray model is a good option.
Batteries: Turnigy nano-tech (Great Value for the price)
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...APPROVED_.html
17.5 Motors: Most popular at the track are Team Powers Plutonium and Trinity D3.5
ESC: HobbyWing XERUN V2.1, v3.0, v3.1
Body: Protoform LTC-R
Tires: We run a spec tire. Solaris (Hard Compound)

ROAR's list of "Blinky" (Non-Tiing) approved Speed Controllers: http://www.roarracing.com/approved_non_timing_escs.php
