Yes, that limits the turning radius. It's not how I do it but it does sound like a good way to set that consistently and require less maintenance.

I read this as jamming the shim between the arm and the stop. Ie: limiting the travel to 3/4/5mm or whatever it is.

Here are screen shots of how he is limiting throw. It is on the vertical ballstud as skiddins mentioned. Seems he used a couple shims rather than just 1 tall one.

Ah yep. I can see that now looking closely!

The O ring on the shock shaft would fit on the outside of the shock, where it can be seen. They were sometimes used to act as limiters for the suspension travel.
Haven't seen anyone actually fit any there for years.

when mounting the body do the foam bumber hit the body
or do you leave small cap between the body and foam bumber

I usually mount the body so the wheels are centered in the wheel well cutouts as best as possible. I might fudge that forward or back a few millimeters for handling preference. I ignore the bumper until the body is mounted and usually have a gap between the body and bumper and I stick some foam to the body to fill the gap. if you leave the gap then the nose of the body flexes when air hits it and the lip will scrape the carpet.

Where you mount the body in relation to the front bumper is a tuning option. If you center the front wheels in the front wheel wells, the car will have a more neutral feel. Most mount the body further forward(more gap between body and foam bumper)for a more aggressive steering car. The gap to the foam bumper is filled in with foam strips.

There are also bumpers now made by EA Motorsports that have this additional foam as part of the bumper itself.

I have never owned an XRAY before and started my build a couple of days ago.

I am so impressed with the engineering and quality and excellent manual.

I see that there a lot of options available! Are the options worth it and do they make a noticeable difference?

wkderf 10-28-2016 03:31 PM

it depends on the options.

some of them are for weight savings, while others provide more options for tuning.

tuning options can help for more performance, but they can also have an adverse effect if you dont know how they will affect your car.
