Actually we have been delivering a new shipment of Platinums and 3200s since last week. If your favorite retailer is out of stock, they should have them any time.

Rick, I know it's probably answered in another thread, but I figured instead of digging elsewhere, you would know better than anyone else. Does the new TC5 accept both Orion LiPo packs without any "dremel shoehorns?"

I'm a little bummed out by the new JRXS-R's seemingly fragile condition, even though the car is PERFECT with the 4800 Orion pack in it. I'm kind of starting to look elsewhere...

Thanks,

doug

Thumbs up

Nevermind, I of course found the answer on the first random page I clicked on in the TC5 thread. I'm a dumbass.

Looks like they both fit perfectly, and the car even has a side retainer for quare edged packs, too. Noyce!

I just picked up a Platinum pack from the LHS today. The case seems to be spread or expanding on one corner. My concern is that the cell inside has swelled causing this. This or the case is just warped.

Anybody run into this? What do you think?

My secondary concern is this might make it difficult to fit in my 007. I'll just have to try and see though.

The case does not lock together so in some cases, there may be slight separation between the case halves. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about, especially if the battery is brand new.

If the gap changes over time, then you could be experiencing swelling.

It is OK to put a small drop of CA glue on that corner if the separation is causing fitment problems. Just don't put a bead of glue around the entire edge.

On the avionics I thought it only went 3 amps lipo?
The ice will go as high as 8+ amps lipo.

It's the amount of continuous discharge the pack can handle. A 20C lipo like the platinum can handle discharge up to 20 times the capacity. So the plat can run 96 amps continuous. I know burst rate is much higher but don't have time to look them up.

The C rating works in tandem with the capacity.

The Platinum is actually 15C but at such a high capacity it still performs strong.

The 3200 is 20C and this is why the 4800 and the 3200 seem to be so matched when it comes too durability.

The C ratings will continue to increase with capicites as sizes and cost go down this is another advantage of LiPo over NiMH. NiMH will continue to increase in size and price exponentially with power.

MrBlack - Gotcha on the plat C rating. BTW, the plats saved my butt the other day when my 24V lithium drill batteries died. 3 in series lasted quite a long time in a time of need. Voltage never dropped low even under load. Guess my warranty is shot on the packs though huh?
