What I have realized is pretty much everything works in 17.5 and higher tun motors. Put a 4.5 in it and then explain how arm sweep helped it.

It'll work the same way as it does in with running a 17.5. A little less turn in and more steering in the middle out of the corner. This is of course assuming your not blowing every corner with the 4.5.

Why? I'm asking to learn more. I actually agree with you, but it's more of a purist thing since real race cars have no arm sweep and set the toe in the rear using a toe link. I know some of the team drivers have played with arm sweep both front and rear. But it looks to me that most setups using ARS has zero arm sweep and all the toe set using the toe links.

Front arm sweep is something once I tried I liked, and have always run ever since no matter what brand of car I drove. Then angle of the arms on the rear is what sets the toe (and track width) if your using the standard rear end. If your using the 1up Racing DTC system toe is set by the adjustable links and the inserts that hold the hinge pins in place only affect the rear track width.

Roll center and camber change are also effected by the location of the hinge pin in and out as well as up and down. Huge adjustment on a pillow ball suspension 8th scale car.

I have tried arm sweep on 4 different chassis (HPI, WRc Capricorn and now TC7.1) I think it is a very minor adjustment. My problem is I come from a foam tire pillow ball suspension background. The track I race at is considered high bite by the locals. I have never raced on anything with this little bite. Like I said in 17.5 I can run the same laptimes as the fast guys. In mod I am a second a lap off the pace and always struggling for forward bite off the corner. Steering has never been an issue. I am just struggling with the whole rubber tire and when and how to sauce mainly.

Very true. Also can affect anti dive/kickup and anti squat as well.

Can anyone gives me the length of the dampers on tc7.1? Is it close to 50mm or even shorter than 50mm? Thanks.

I guess you'd need to ask those guys, AE's web site shows that they have them in stock.

My SS's measure, off the car/spring installed/fully extended, 49.5mm from eyelet center to eyelet center.
