True. I like that you don't have to buy a ton of mounts. Unfortunately the FF04 does not accept the new style split mounts unless you drill out the deck for it.

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/optio...ble-sus-mount/ This looks like it'll fit just fine, at both ends.

I'm not entirely sold on a lot of the suspension setups. But I've done almost all of my racing on carpet, which leans heavily on the stiffest setup you can get. Asphalt, and other surfaces where you need to fight for all the traction you can find... split mounts would be the thing?

Those would work for sure on either end.

So took the sons front apart for service... anyone else getting play in their front arm mounts. Running 2e. 1A in front and ton of fore and aft play / side to side. Arm holes are all good. Thought it was them but its not. No issues in rear running 1XD & 1A...
(I know the Orca is m/a screw)

Are you using plastic mm shims or aluminum? Plastics will wear down and create slop. Also lay your mount flat hole facing down on glass to see if it is straight. These bend easy

Mounts are good, and all Aluminum shims, with only .3mm play so as not to bind. Shafts were ll brand new, not bent or too short. For the time, I used super glue in all the 1A mounts to take up the play (like we did in the Pro10 days on ball cups). Ordered up new mounts and balls. Everything else is straight. Just weird it is on the front end oönly....

Use thin metal .1mm shims for the fore/aft play (slightly loose is better than slightly tight). This will in turn balance the inserts in the center of the blocks and removes the side to side play. Pretty standard operating procedure for the ball insert suspension blocks yet stays remarkably free swinging. Always remember: a little suspension play = more traction.

Thanks Mike, we got it sorted for now, I checked my TB06 as well, yets its 1A's are still good. On the Ff04 we still have some play, but not as much as a Walmart R/C anymore, and the arms fall freely. We will hopefully get through the indoor season, until new ones arrive, and order up some Exotek ones too, for good measure

Are those actually Tamiya mounts? Because I don't recall that style of thin italic marking being used by Tamiya in the past.

Great point... i did not even think of that. They are also cut different than the ones on the Evo, hmmm. Good catch Sosidge. Well Genuine Tamiya ones are on the way. Thanks again everyone for the input.

EDIT: Did some digging, my.son had gotten these through eBay. The listing showed the OP Tamiya PN, but turns out they are 3racing ones not OEM....

If anyone has a FF-03 or FF-04 for sale, I am looking for a slider/roller.

PM me!

Mine is complete. Will use it in usgt and maybe tcs if I can. Was looking at the exotek black suspension mounts to keep the black theme but they don't have to many mount options.

Nice and clean.

Tamiya should have at least made black suspension blocks to complete this kit. Makes me really wonder why they included the plastic ones on this kit while they've included aluminum in the FF-03R and FF-03Evo.
