Default 3300's tip the scales?

I've heard that the 3300's are significantly heavier than the Sanyo 3000's. Can anybody confirm what the weight differences are?

At what point do you guys think that the lighter cells outweigh the benefits of having a little more runtime? If you run a car like a Mission, TC3, Losi XXX-s, and several others, an additional ounce of weight on the cell side means more balancing weight on the other.

GP3300 are about 5g per cell over SMH...not sure about HV but would expect the margin to be lower.......you can definately feel a difference in 30g for a pack...just by picking up the battery!

just a shameless plug but Hurricane Motorsports is doing GP3300s right now too. visit www.teamhurricane.net and ask Paul about his cells. You won't be disappointed by his numbers, prices, or service. Tell him TheBarber sent ya.

Some pretty "wild" claims.....

"We have motors any way you want them, OEM straight from the factory, or a full blown dyno tuned blue-printed motor that will rip the teeth off your spur gear and leave your friends gasping in awe when you rip the throttle."

Don't think many racers will be happy with motors tearing their spur gears to pieces!!!

I've tried these batteries in my 1/12 scale and could not dump, I tried to dump but just couldn't. Normally I have my 12 turn geared at around a 36 roll out for my 3000s and have to try not to dump. I ended the night with around a 43 roll out for the same motor, i ate up every car on the straight and the batteries seemed to have enough punch to handle the tall gear ratio. I liked them. This was all on the batteries first charge too. Maybe I'll have to try an 8 turn next time.

I came pretty close to dumping my 3300's a couple weeks ago running Mod Sedan. Chassis was tweaked horribly, decided to make up everything I could down the straights and just park it for the turns. Drove the hell out of an 8x2 Ti for 5 minutes, still had as much punch at the end as it did the start, but when I tried discharging the pack, it shut off after about 5 seconds (Turbo35@30amp dis to 5.4v) so it was close. As it was, I qualified 6th out of 9 I think. lol

Anyways, it IS possible to dump a 3300 in sedan, but you'd really have to be trying hard to do it.

GP3300s . thats what I would go with. Promatch even recommends them.

I ran the GP's last week in stock sedan and they ran awsome, even better then my HV's, I'm very happy with these cells so far. I cycled them after a month of running and they haven't lost ANY runtime from the first time I cycled them.

I have 2 new packs of GP's that I finished assembling. I'll be racing 19T sedan with foams on carpet tomorrow. Would you recomend cycling the packs today, or just charge and run them when I get there?? I'm thinking that cycling them today will wake them up so to speak. Any thought's??

Greg-

I was told that you should get some runs on the pack befor you expect to much from them. I learned last year with my SMH cells that it took a good 10 runs on the packs before they started to do really really well. Voltage went up and so did run time a little. Jeff at Promatch told me not to really cycle the cells on a charger so much then to just run the cells. Same goes for the GP3300 I have been told.

See you soon at The Track.

Hey Mike, yeah I just ran them in the car. I figured that's what there intended for so might as well cycle them under the same conditions.
