Ever since trying this, the diff has felt smooth & more "free spinning" even when the diff is tightened up so there's no slip.
I'm using hardened steel balls in the X1 diff, and it feels better than my F113 diff that has ceramic balls in it.
A theory I have of this is because how the cone spring washer sits against the thrust bearing. With just one washer that's orientated so that outer edge of the washer sits against the thrust bearing, it places a more even force of pressure against the thrust bearing resulting in a smoother & more consistent diff, which will improve handling.

in the tamiya cars when we swap the bearing for a thrust we run the conical washers like this )( instead of the stock way and xray way like this () and it works much better
maybe that would be better but the tamiya has a flat plate before the nut. I may try it and try to fit a washer in there in my car
I know in the Street Jam cars the diff has no washer before the nut and if you add one it makes the diff much better and more consistent

Hi guys, love the thread. I'll be ordering and picking up a X1 in a month or two. I've been exclusively racing Tamiyas so far.
I have one question about the diff/drive shaft/drive bearings. Do the Tamiya rear ride height insterts and drive bearings etc etc fit onto the X1?

Put the field two laps down and dropped my hero lap in the main down a tenth from last week. Inline battery is working great for me on a tight carpet track.

Also, has Xray brought out aluminum inserts to replace the plastic ones that hold the main shock, the grub screws keep pulling through the plastic, even when carefully tightening the shock ball joints onto them.

How much would it affect the low grip chassis? Maybe something to consider if it reduces tweak in the 2mm chassis option.

Works exactly the same as the grub screw but desn't come loose.

I stuck 2mm shims under the posts that hold that carbon piece up, that way the screw head clears the battery.
