Default Front Gear Diff?

Hi all,

Has anyone tried using a front gear diff, specifically on carpet? What was your experience? How does it change the handling of the car?

Thanks!
Sam

Sam a dif up front feels great we have built them with really thick diff lube like 250,000 to 2mil wt. but the lap times don't show an advantage over the spool.... mine is back out and back to the spool which I think a majority of us down here are running

I've found a front diff almost always feels really dialed but the laptimes don't show it. A spool has much better forward drive off the corner, and the car changes less over the run with a spool as well. I still always have a gear diff for the front if the need ever comes up though.

On my spool for the VTA car I have the hardened metal outdrives installed.
I have had them for about a month now and the right side out drive shows a significant wear. I guess that's because both racetracks I run on run clockwise.

Will any SoCal D06 owners be competing in the open class this weekend of the HPI Challenge series?

Do you have DCJs? Do you usually hit things with the right front? :P

I have a VBC Wildfire D06 for sale. It has never been ran. Kit still needs to be completed(shocks need to be built). It comes with plenty of spare parts. Full spring set. Full sway bar set. Ti-nitride shock shafts and inner hinge pins. Tuning shims. Has the aluminum front spool and hard outdrives installed. Just didn't have the time this winter. $450 Canadian for the works.

E-mail me at [email protected] if interested.

Thanks

Has anyone tried inboard toe in on the front of the car? Most setups the use this type of toe have a toe out setting. ( lm looking for a little more steering) I was just curious of the effects this would have.

The stock setup provided too much steering for me that I had to get rid of some.

This is close to what I have now.

If you want more steering you could do any of the following.
Add little more droop to the rear
Add negative camber to front
Give rear wheels less negative camber
Give less toe to rear.
Softer springs in the front
Harder springs in the rear
Stiffer sway bar in the rear
And so on.

I would try one thing at a time.

The birds is over and as usuall everyone is wiped out. There were big hi and low points but the team represented well by Dave Erhlich, Max, JJ Wang, Fred, Phil and Kyle think JJ Dave and Max had some great results. But this race more than any I've been to needs a big does of good luck thrown in to the equation and I know that was lacking for many of the team guys

Questions??

Disappointing to see that VTA TQ Dave Johnson did not run the A Main in either VTA or Stock TC 17.5 with his VBC Cars at the SnowBirds
