Has anyone else experienced HPI Silver springs with barely any silver paint marking them? I have 3 pairs of them and only one pair has any noticeable silver paint on them. This gets aggravating when you consider the Tamiya 418 kit springs as identical as well as the Ride Black springs. Thankfully the Ride Silver springs use 1.4mm wire so they're easy to identify but all the others seem to be 1.5mm!

HPI blue - straight out of the package:

Tamiya blue -

And, if someone would be so kind, what the heck is this one? Wound opposite, 13.59mm ID, 15.49 OD, 5 coils, 1.4mm wire.

I was referring to the new large diameter "black" Tamiya springs.
The Tamiya black is pretty unique compared to the other coatings. It looks like a trivalent zinc chromate, hence the lack of color density and the heavy "rainbow" affect. That alone is usually enough for me to tell!
The bottom mystery spring is wound in the direction of the new Tamiya springs. All the new Tamiya springs use 1.5mm wire (per Tamiya) and vary the coil count to change the rate. Mine check out to confirm this. The most likely candidate is a Ride spring.
