Receive my kit today !
I just take some measurements...
Post corrected with new measurements
Max distance center of spur shaft to center of motor shaft = 28.5mm
Min distance center of spur shaft to center of motor shaft = 24.5mm
Max pinion size with plastic spacer = 18.3mm or a 43T 64P pinion
Max pinion size with just the brass sleeve = 20.9mm or a 49T 64P pinion
The lowest FDR I was able to achieve with my spare parts is 3.88 with an 76T spur and a 49 pinion !
I don't think it's possible to have a lower FDR without a different motor mount...
Your millage may vary with different spur/pinion manufacturer.
I will try to dremel the motor spacer to have just the sleeve as the limiting factor...a picture may follow this weekend if somebody is not faster than me
In my opinion this kit is definitively usable with a 17.5 and not optimal for higher turn without a new motor mount redesign !

I forgot to mention without dermeling anything 80/43 is possible for a 4.65 FDR
I am more exited to have new parts to test for my EVO V conversions

OK to excited here the quick way of doing it !
When I measure for the sleeve to sleeve it was with just the screws not with the spacer in place...
So the real measurement is 20.90mm and the max pinion size without tempering with the sleeve is 49T...for a 3.88 FDR
I will correct my first post.

You should be able to use a smaller spur which will cure the gear ratio problems. 68 spur should get you guys where you need to be
I'm sure if you use 68 spur divide by 52th pinion X 2.5= 3.26

If you take out the sleeve at the spacer you may be able to put a bigger pinion and at the same time use a smaller spur.
Seriously the solution for the motor mount "limitation" will probably be solved with a chassis conversion

Hmm...thanks for the pictures. Looks like the sleeve is the limiting factor. =/
I wonder if Tamiya USA ever has any input for Tamiya Japan on new car designs seeing as how 17.5 class is the most popular everywhere. Seems they keep shooting themselves in the foot on potential more sales.

Thanks for the pics, daktulos. Is that 48p you're using? And you're using a 76t Spur to get 3.88 ratio. Is that right.
I think I was down to 3.65 with 17.5 and we're moving to 13.5 blinky soon, so that might still be do-able for me, although as everyone is saying it might still rule out the market of 17.5/21.5/USGT/VTA, etc
