Hi Ozone,
Well if you're on David Jun's level you can almost race it out of the box and win. For the mere mortals here I think you'll need at least a set of gears appropriate for the class, speed tuned gears are the only option AFAIK as the TB gears should not be legal, heatsink motor mount, lightweight diffs, universals in front preferably all around, lightweight shaft & lightweight gears for the gearbox, low friction damper pistons and rods, a racing spring set and Tamiya Type A F201 tires. I think this is all you really need, everything else is just freeing up the drive train and suspension.
Cheers/Chip

Hi Ozone,
You can add heatsinks to the car like I did. But with the kit chassis you may not be able to fit them both without some work to clearance the heatsinks to fit the chassis and brace.
Cheers/Chip

I just installed the TB-01 gear mod and I'm using the kit sport tuned motor. I notice the tires balooning when at speed (off the ground). Is the TB-01 gear mod suitable to be used with the kit motor? Btw, I'm still using the stock Tamiya tires.

Hi Guys,
We got more F201 car kits (ferrari) and hop-ups in stock. Also, photos from the last round of F1RL is updated online.
Morpheus2be,
You should tri some pit shimizu F201 tires, or the Tamiya Type A upgrade tires, those will work a lot better than the kit ones.
Chip,
so when are we going to see that thing run?

Hi Steve,
As you know I've been scarce, you haven't seen me spending wads of money at the shop lately. I had some real work to do to rebuild my R/C account. Then I had a photo shoot with Sugar Ray (the pop group), for Atlantic records and a couple of cover shoots for two Japanese music magazines.
Do we have a date for the driver's meeting? Please include me if it has not already happened! I want to run the series in the next "season." I have the car pretty much ready to give it a go with a few minor issues to clean up.
I'm also writting a set-up article on the F201 chassis with images and a short review of the 3Racing/Eagle CF chassis and hard parts. So I have been spread kind of thinly with my usual home stuff to boot.
Cheers/Chip

Okay, I got a chance to try the TB-01 gearing with the stock sport tuned motor. Car runs fine and fast. I used a 1700mAh sports pack and after the pack dumped, I checked the motor. It was cool to the touch. However, my ESC (M3 Tempo) was quite hot. Is this normal?

It seems odd to me that your esc would get hot when running the sport tuned motor. That motor is just a 540 with advanced timing. Warm is ok, but it shouldn't be hot.

Looks awesome. I bet with the stiffer arms, it's whole new car.

I will only get to test it this weekend, but will let you know what the ride is like. It certainly feels more solid all round.
