The grey parts supplied with the D spec are actually advertised as reinforced parts if you check tamiya.com! It was thought that they reinforced this piece due to similar experiences to what you've described Johny.

I've been rally bashing two TT02’s for a while now, set up as Blue describes without any problems (hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself!).
However note I also run mine with a TT01 'square' branded suspension guard specifically to reduce the impact to this sensitive area.

Hey all, this is my current build, a TT02 drift spec.
I decided to go Tamiya purple/green pearl with aluminium light buckets.

I am running a 9t, 4370KV brushless
60A ESC
4200mah NiMH battery (because this is just my parking lot basher)
Sakura D3 suspension
Sakura bearings in the wheel hubs (temporary measure)
D-Spec rims and tyres
Turn buckles to adjust toe in on the front

If you don't like the tamiya driveshaft try the eagle racing one. I've used both and the eagle one seemed to sit a lot better.

the Tamiya aluminum driveshaft for the TT-02 sits just fine, you just have to put a black o ring on both sides of the driveshaft cup ;)

Yeah tried that but it still didn't feel as nice-a fit as the eagle racing one which has ends shaped more like the stock part.

New to this so sorry if this has been posted before. Not sure what type of rc I'd like to get in to so bought myself a TT02. I was just wondering if I could convert it to a TT02B? The tub and set up looks the same just a different suspension system. If I bought the parts could I just swap them over?

It is possible to convert an onroad TT-02 to an offroad version but i guess it will cost you as much as a new TT-02B kit.
You'l need new suspensoin arms, damperstays, body, wheels, tires etc.
Your better of to buy a new TT-02B kit and you will also have a motor and ESC included.

Second what Blue said, I've got both and yes it would be possible as the tub and drivetrain are the same, but by the time you purchase all the parts needed you'll be close to the price of a new buggy kit.

About the only way it could work out cheaper is if you intend to hop it up with alloy bits and pieces - I did assemble a TT02 from spares and upgrades but it's less complicated than the B versions.

On another note, has anyone fitted the yeah racing conversion kit and is it worth it? Also would a TT01 upper deck fit the TT02?

The yeah racing full kit has some nice pieces and if you have the cash it could be a good option.
Personally i think it's a bit of overkill for the TT - you'll end up spending as much on the upgrades as you have on the kit. You could probably just buy a better kit.

Depending what you want to use it for I'd upgrade slowly and specifically for what you want to use it for.

But whatever makes you happy!

No, the Tt01 upper deck is just a tad too short to fit. Maybe with some mods...

Looking good, but it's better to use the kit supplied wheel hexes (the ones that look like a brake disc).
It will widen the car by a few mm's wich will give the car a more stable handling and the wheel arches will be filled better.
I even cut the brake disc from the hex and you will also save some weight/rotational weight.
I've done 2 hexes in only 10minutes of cutting and sanding.

Im using the tamiya 6mm wheel hex which is the thickest I can have, And I can shim them to exact tolerance.:nod:
