TT02R is a good base starter kit for GT Pro |
The RR was the car to get but unfortunately I think Tamiya figured it was too good of a deal.
The TT02R will need a few things. My basic list for the R would be: Hard chassis Steering upgrade kit Universals new sealed diffs upper camber adjustable arms 6mm hexes i think that’s probably a good start. Here’s my two rigs…still pushing to improve them all the time. Just got some new parts on the way that Tamiya just released. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...c5dfbf721.jpeg

TT02R is out of stock everywhere, it is worth buying the TT02D and convert it to TT02R?

Both shops in Germany though, and no idea about cost of international shipping...

https://tamico.de/Tamiya-47439-TT-02...SR-Chassis-Kit https://www.modellbau-seidel.de/inde...iya&best=47439 The SRX is also a nice version, but compared to these SR offerings, with over $100 more, too expensive IMO. |

TT-02R also includes the above (oil shocks and bearings), but goes further to also include aluminum drive shaft, steel out drives and dog bones(drive shafts), speed tuned gear parts so you can use any manufacturer spur to properly gear to brushless motors, 3deg rear aluminum hubs, and a few other blue bits. TT-02R does not include a body, so this suits it well to selecting your own GT preferred body set. |

Tamiya TT-02 Type-SRX or Tamiya TT-02 Type-SR
Hey,
I have a Tamiya TT-02 Type-SR new in box. Should I build it up or get the newly released Tamiya TT-02 Type-SRX? Its pretty hard to figure out which kit has better upgrades, they are both pretty similar. Thanks. |
IIRC the SRX uses an updated, newer TC suspension (54886) than the slightly older SR. I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that this newer suspension doesn't work with the droop screws add-on (54638), but I might be mixing this up with something different. Cannot find what shocks are used on the SRX - 50746 are included with the SR, however.
EDIT: Apart from those two uncertainties (not even having the option to set droop by screws would be quite a let-down though, if true, as this is a major setup/tuning aid, which I'd not like to lose and I find it hard to imagine the updated suspension is so superior as to completely compensate for that), IMO the SRX seems to be a little better equipped, be it included parts or small improvements in detail (better front spool, aluminium prop shaft, speed gears, blades on DCJs and universals) - but I've seen price differences of 110€ between the two kits around here... . I sure like the small improvements on the SRX and kinda wish mine had these nifty details, but it's a TT-02 still, and I think I've sunk enough money into mine. |

Saw this little note in a recent Tamiya TT-02 variant manual.
Glad to see Tamiya has finally caught on to what most experienced builders have been suggesting for a while now. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...9e12979658.png |
