I've switched from a Tekin to a Orion R10 Pro. It's so much smoother, and has a lot more power! Awesome Speedo, and no need for any booster or receiver battery!

Regards Robert

Is the Orion 1s smaller than the Hobbywing 3.1 1s? If you include the power cap and the switch it's probably the same size or bigger.

The Hobbywing 3.1 1s with the built in booster, power cap, and switch is perfect for 12th scale. I also REALLY like the off feature where you can turn the ESC off by holding the brakes for some set number of seconds.

Thats the one. I was gonna go orca but the cap is so huge on a 1/12 car. Not roar approved yet but the 2s is so not sure what the holdup is.

Orca for sure for me, firmware is constantly evolving and parameters are really nice to finetune.
I don't find the car overly big, at least compare to Orion (a very good esc too).

This is from the roar approval page, is this not it?

Hobbywing 81020340 81020350 81020360 XERUN-120A V3.1 Software V3.1_121129_beta ESC must use Profile #2, red LED on power button flashes when throttle is at neutral in non-timing mode

Yes, the 120 amp 3.1 that you listed is approved. as is the 2.1 in all variants, but there is no explicit listing for 30112121051-xerun120a-3.1-1s-black.

im sure they run the same software, and im sure most clubs wont give a crap, but from what ive heard around these parts, some are pretty anal about that stuff.
im sure it will be on the list shortly. so im not worried just pointing out that it isn't.

For mod, be sure to include the lrp flow in your thoughts. Very very good in mod. In stock boosted on 1s i'm not sure it has enough adjustability for the higher wind motors.
It does need an rx pack though.

The Viper is my speedo of choice. I have replaced ALL (5) of the speedos that I owned, (four of them were the Tekin RS) with Viper VT1. I have tho cars that use 1cell speedos but I use the VT1 in two cell cars as well, with NO LOSS OF PERFORMANCE! The VT1 has a super small footprint and with the program card there is a ton of programmability. If I were to blow a speedo in any car I can just replace it with another one out of one of the other cars. The only class I that I don't run this speedo in is VTA. The Viper is the way to go.
