I was really looking forward to getting to a couple races this year until I saw the schedule. I got an 05 and a 415, but I guess Tamiya isn't really interested in their Midwest customers? Unless I want to drive 2000 miles to F*in Maryland or Seattle I'm out of luck. BTW, who the F lives in Maryland .lol

A bunch of guys from OK. come up here for the Novak race and TCS race. I don't think the drive is ever too bad. We always have a great race! And if this is your first, it's The place to start!

Darkseid,
I'm not really knocking the TA05, I'm just trying to inform prospective and new owners that it's gunna take more than $200 in hop-ups to be competitive.
You may race at a low level of competition, but not all areas are like that.
It's missleading to say this car in stock form can compete with Xrays and Corrallys.

No, Darkseid and I don't race at a low level of competition. Believe me!

And I'm not really sure where this $200 + in hopups comes from. Most people here are much faster with a spool over the double one-ways. So that's not needed. I have both a 415MS and a TA05 and my TA05 with the standard suspension carries every bit as much corner speed as my 415. So there goes the LW suspension theory. And a lot of high end nitro cars use dogbones with no problems..so there goes the Unis argument. So what else adds up to over 200 bux???

I'd say to a prospective 05 owner to get TRF shocks ($60) and ti turnbuckles ($25) and maybe if you want to lighten it up some aluminum screws ($20). That adds up to $110. And if you want to really lighten it up get the new chassis another $40. So now were at $150. And that's not even stuff you NEED. Just nice to have.

"low level of competition"...

Okey dokey then...

I guess you and I are done with what was a pretty good debate with points to be made on both sides.

Insults are always the last line of defense for someone who has run out of good points to debate with. kinda sad really...

Good luck to you with which ever car you choose to run.

I would also recomend the front CVD's, so when you hit a pipe or board usually entering a turn, it will keep the front dog bone from popping out, jamming up and breaking the diff drive cup.
People put mag wheels, exhausts and lowering kits on their street cars, does it make them any faster??
If you dont try it, you will never know.

With front dogbones, the car feels more agressive mid corner, as the dogbones actualy give more side bite in a corner, I put CVD's on mine mainly cause of less maintenance and running on a tight indoor carpet, on a tarmac outdoor track, I can't see it being an issue, as long as that driveshaft is trapped in with an extra o-ring.

I know in the UK, indoors, this car in someone elses hands is making the A Final in 19t at a prestigeous indoor winter series.... mine is up with the FK05, SDW's, FT TC4, Pro 4 and 415MS..... so it is competitive.

It doesn't need anything to be competative for some classes like stock with rubber tires. I have only upgraded my shocks to TRF shocks and the car is very comparable to the RDX's, X-ray's and other high end cars at the track. I don't consider the shocks to be a problem since both x-ray and corally need the same hop-up and they are $350+ cars. I thought this car would need a ton of work to be up there, but right out of the box it was faster than my TC4 that I had been working on for 6 months. So right away, a $125 was better than my $200 car. I can buy a ton of hopups for the price of an RDX, but it really doesn't need them.

I drive my 05 as my only touring car and have enjoyed it. But has anyone compared it weight wise to some of the other cars? I'm gonna try the cf upper and lower but in current form it's real heavy. That's where the 200.00 in hopups come in.

Well, you can save an ounce with aluminum screws ($20) and the new Tamiya carbon chassis will shave a little more than an ounce wich is only $40. The lightweight suspension is another ounce, but comes at a price. It's much more fragile than the standard suspension.

I think it was posted here, not sure. What was the part number for the carbon bumper plate??? I think it was for the TA04 but can't seem to find it.

Thanks.
