Default Request for gearing information

Could someone please confirm that the centre pulley on the TA05 is 16T and the diff pulley 36T, giving an internal ratio of 2.25:1?

Also what is the range of pinion and spur gear sizes produced by Tamiya for the TA05, and are they 06 or 04 sizes?

I don't own a TA05, hence the questions, and I would like to include this info in my gear ratio tables.

-----------------

Referring to an earlier post on the subject of 06 and 04 gears. The 06 gears are nowhere near 48dp - 42dp would be nearer the mark. 04 gears are very close to 64dp, but possibly not close enough to permit a perfect mesh.

Cheers

Peter

You are correct on internal ratios.

What the scope is on Tamiya items, haven't a clue, I run RW spurs, lol.

Does anybody have any idea if Tamiya is going to make a Carbon Graffite Chassis using the TA-05 drive train?

If your talking about a graphite plate chassis then no, there hasn't been any indication as of yet.

If your refering to a carbon graphite version of the current tub, then YES, its already happening and is only waiting to hit the store shelves. In addition to that, pretty much every plastic component on the car will also have a carbon graphite version availible about the same time as the new chassis releases.

If you scroll back a couple pages, you can see where some people found and posted the info.

I think if I was choosing between the Xenon and the 3Racing...I'd go with the 3Racing one. Personally, I am waiting for the carbon tub from Tamiya.

Im waiting on something from Tamiya also. I love racing the TCS series so my car will stay all Tamiya. So my 05 is now relegated to the kit box, where it will sit until Tamiya finally release a CF deck chassis kit for the 05. Ill check out reports about the new LW carbon tub, and hardened parts, and if that makes a dramatic plus for the car, i may dust it off and race it again. Otherwise, im sticking to my 415 for now. After alot of testing and racing with the 05, i found the it sooo much easier to get consistency and fast laps with the 415

I was actually tempted to sell my 05, but its tooo nice

Does anyone have a decent setup for rubber/carpet or foam/carpet with the Xenon chassis, or is it pretty well the same as the tub version?

Well that proves that it's all about set-up . You obviously have your 05 dialed while your buddy is struggling to find one that he can drive. Be a buddy and help him out and then the two of you can race along side each other and find out who really is the better driver. I can't tell you how many times I've help a friend or a newbie on making suggestions on how to set -up their car!
When I first started I relied on the kindness of more experience racers to point me in the right direction, so I too could go out there and just have fun banging fenders with friends!
This is what racing is all about!!!!
