Its the same insert the xb4 uses as jlfx said. Its simple and works great. dont have to worry about loosing your balls like others.

So will the 2014 be any different on carpet than the 2013?

No, Spec-R (and the RSD RX4) use a pivot ball inside the plastic insert.

I'm sure this has been asked but Will the T4 2013 have a option to convert to the "new" 2014.
I know the Reflex has the upgrade but was not sure if that is the only change to the Xray 2014

We don't know yet as the new car hasn't been announced.

I was thinking about buying the Reflex chassic kit but would hate to buy it and the new 2014 will have way more upgrades. Which would be better to sell my T4 2013 and buy the 2014.

From what I gather, the new kit will have a narrower chassis, the toe block style mount for the arm hinge pins, and the closed layshaft mount (I guess newer T4 2013 kits already include this). But it sounds looks like the RSD chassis uses a pivot ball, where the Xray system will not. Personally I opted to try the RSD kit. My only concern is the graphite from them, but I bought many RSD parts and they have been great.

XRay's updates are usually a lot of little changes that add up to a big change. This time they're making a big change (toe blocks) and probably the same number of little changes as ever. Not sure what that will mean on the track, but they usually tend to make the car better with each iteration, and the T4 is already spectacular on the rug. I think it's a very exciting time for XRay drivers who are planning to get the next kit.

The Mugen Ti screws (from AMain) are the best I've found for a sensible price. Strong, light, and good depth on the hex. Not rounded or bent one yet.

Mid corner steering without taking away rear traction or stability.
