With 2mm shims between motor and mount, it's only 7-8g heavy on the battery side. I just don't know if that will compromise the integrity of the motor mount and lead to stripped spurs. I'm missing that schui motor clamp a bit right now.

Someone mentioned they had an option part for shimming out the motor to try and increase roll.
It was pointed out that moving that weight out also changes the CoG etc and can make for inconsistent handling.

For 14g I would just leave it as is

14g is really not a lot, mine is way more than that, brings up an interesting subject though cause I was just putting the finishing touches on mine tonight, and I did notice just how light the T4 is on the motor corner, hard to find room to put weight back there as well with my cooling fan etc.

I weighed mine again after all the prep work, still like 30g under weight (it's 1380g for this event), no effort has been made to make my car light, so I'm impressed, but I got to find spots to put that much weight on, tricky on the T4, harder when your trying to balance it, in the end mine is going to probably be 25-30g heavier on the battery side.

pics of your layout? I got that reflex racing mount thats aluminum to mount a fan to it, that should add weight. Currently, I have just a smaller fan shoe good in behind the motor, like I have always done. I ordered a 30x30 muchmore fan, hopefully it cools well.

Can you stick the ballast to the outside of the ESC, receiver or servo? Or put it under the receiver since that basically weighs nothing so raising it up won't change the CoG a great deal.

If it's only 14g off measured at the wheels that's not a big deal, although since you've got to add some ballast it makes sense to use it to get the car balanced.

Here is a pic of another way to install a cooling fan. Use a servo mount post, thread a grub screw into the hole on the bulkhead then screw the servo mount to that (kind of how the shocks mount to the arms). Now you have room to add weight underneath your fan

On the subject of weight balance... Any suggestions for front/rear targets for asphalt? With body off, I'm close to 50/50 front/rear. Just about 5g heavier per rear corner.

I find about 52% rear weight is a good target.

mine was similar, instead of weights put it to good use and get a motor heatsink and fan
the lrp heatsink is 15 gms
have you moved the electrics as far out as you can? also using longer wire, more weight

21g under rx, and 14g behind motor fan. No motor shims. About 1390g total, 2g heavy on battery side, and 50.7% rear. Close enough.

Gotta install my DCJs, and then tomorrow.

I'd post a pic, but the wiring still looks pretty shoddy. :/

I have some cheap digital scales I found on ebay from hong kong. They get the job done. I don't use them for tweak, though. It's a bit finnicky to get the car settled evenly. I just use them for left/right and front/rear balance.

EDIT: You can get left/right balance really close by just lifting the car with hex drivers under the center of the shock towers, though.
