YOKOMO Touring Car BD-7

Almost all Yokomo factory drivers did run the prototype shock towers and shocks at Gran Canaria, so obviously Prümper, too. Which doesn't mean that both cars didn't differ setup and additive wise...

Here are some pictures of my BD7 fitted with custom made 6mm lower front and rear shock towers made from 3.5mm gloss CF. These were made by Bezerk RC who has a FB page.
I have fitted the new Serpent short shocks which are made 6mm shorter and allow normal springs to be used. The car originally had yokomo pink up front and yokomo blue rear. I ended up at TITC with blue front and rear. These were given out freely by Team Yokomo to all yokomo drivers, as well as a BD7 decal sheet and a free Yokomo T shirt.
I also had a pair of 8mm lower shocks made today which I have included in the first picture. Others are of the 6mm lowered towers.
Hopefully the new 8mm lower towers will arrive tomorrow and I will test with the T Shox this weekend. I was fortunate enough for Andreas, from T shox to be at TITC and he built the shocks for me with enlarged 1.3mm holes in the pistons and short firm rebound springs fitted. Must say they feel very smooth. the proof will be on the track.I did not use at TITC as I did not have the correct size lower towers to fit these too.

might this fit the BD7 instead of the optional battery hooks you can buy? this would eliminate that aweful tape too.. and add some bling!

In response to a PM.
The yellow is the original front and rear shock towers. The green is the 8mm lower shock towers and are what are in my first picture on the previous page.
So yes you need to run shorter shocks. That is why I have chosen the T4 T Shox with X ray ends.

Which other cars use shorter shocks?
We know:
- the T4 has 8mm shorter shocks - Part XRA308307-O - Pack of 2
- CSO T4 shocks (black or orange) - Part - XT-4078K (come in a pack of 4) http://www.cso.com.hk/htdocs/modules...ex.php?nsn=276
- Serpent 411 Eryx - 6mm shorter - Part: RCM-SS (2) (#160124) - Pack of 2
- The T-shox for T4 - Pack of 4
- 3Racing 50mm Aluminium Oil Damper Set For 3racing Sakura Zero #SAK-48/PK - http://www.rcmart.com/3racing-50mm-a...?cPath=389_390
Also, with these shocks, you will need new springs.

That's typical Xray philosophy to sell you more sh!t you already have by making T4 specific springs. I kinda can't fault them because on half of their "innovations", they really are the ones pushing development that other manufactures are too lazy to do when they are not threatened in the market.(i.e. Tamiya in recent years).
But, to me it looks like Yokomo is going the Serpent route cause those look like stock Yokomo springs on Volker's car. It looks like the only thing done was less preload on the top shock collar to get the same ride height.

With the new serpent short shocks, there is no requirement for new springs as they only shortened the top and bottom mounting parts and left the shock body normal length, so all standard springs fit.
For the x ray, you need there new short springs or use the T shox springs which are shorter than standard springs being 22mm and 24mm in length.
