Outdoor I always run about 5,0 to 4,5 final gear ratio.

Stock in Germany is 27T .. Ball Bearing 24° locked timing.

NO SIR...you will fry your motor nice and fast here in california with that final ration...Axel I used the 103 spur with a 29pinon this weekend and it was just right... but it does playa major role on the size and layout of the track...I can not remember the final but I always start with 7.0 or near there to start with a stock motor...with a 19 I start near 6.3-6.5.
If you go to much you will hurt the magnets of your motor fast...
Hope this helps

Is there anywhere stateside that I can get the TiR delrin spools? Anyone? Anyone?? hehe.. I already have the Speedtech spool. And the Yok spools are sold out right now. I prefer the plastic/delrin versions instead of steel.

I ran my BD at a race series in the weekend, the first round I was doing very well with my SD and won a couple of races. I was abit concerned about the BD as I had the SD going so well. Man this car is awesome, I won 5 out of 8 races with the car, 2nd in 2 and didn't start in one due to the dam pin holding the universal together came out.

I love the car so much, real easy to work on and fast!!

a 19T motor is different.

We run 17T. At a (for Germany) medium size Track we ran 5,0. Here's the link.
www.mac-mettenheim.de
You have to klick on "Strecke", to see pics.

As I said. Especially on this track we run 27T -> 4,6 17T -> 5,0 and 12T -> 6,0

My Motors alwalys has about 65 - 75°C after an 5min run.

Yes but his question was about a stock motor. He is from California and out here if you geared your stock motor at anything below 6.0 you would smoke it 9 timed out of 10. So when you say 4.5-5.0 I think you are way off for at least stock motors...Now some 19T I have geared near 5.0...heck the handout motor at the KO Propo Grand Prix this year was getting geared to the moon. but not 4.5 even. Just to point out where I am talking...Here is a website I am using my numbers from...
In the drop downs pick the BD than a spur of 103 and a pinion of 29 that was the sweet spot this weekend.
Maybe if you put in your spur pinion we might have the same numbers...But check. Maybe you use something different to calculate final gear ratios.
http://www.gearchart.com/index.cfm?f...n=chart.create
Besides to even get to the 4.5 ratio even with the largest spur (which is 112t 64p) you would need a 50t pinion....See where I get concerned....I only one place that even carries a 50T...
-Shookie <><
Again I am not trying to slam you or pick on you, just trying to figure out where you are getting your ratio from....just really curious as to how your stock motors can handle a ratio of 4.5-5.0.....
Sorry if I seem a bit punchy....not enough sleep////

It all depends on the track length and motor used. At the 23T motor race I attended here in S. Korea I geared my Yokomo 23T motor at 5.0 and the only reason I didn't go up in pinion was because I had the biggest one I owned on the car and could of used another tooth or two, the track was that big and flowing. It is true though at most tracks in the states a gear ratio of 7.0 is pretty much universal for the Monster stock motor. If you use a more torque based motor like the P2K2 or even the old P2K then your ratio will be more in the 6.0-6.5 range.

True true...forgot about the P2K2...haven't really used one in a while...but your right I did gear that to near 6.2, but not 5.0. WOW Matt that track had to be immence to gear that high....sheesh...would love to through a brushless geared to the moon on a track that big and flowing...

Yeah, the straightaway had to be around 150-175 feet long and the whole track was open and flowing. Just don't be so fast to critisize a gearing choice unless they tell you what motor and size of track they're racing on

The 27T Motor I'm using has about 165W and 27000 rpm.

I run a 96T 64pitch spur gear. And I even have a 52T Pinion

I guess, the tracks an motors here in germany are different to the americans.
