what are you guys doing to protect the wheel nuts from scratching the anodizing off?
I bought a plastic 4-40 wrench but its only good for tightening as it strips for removing. So what i do is double over a paper towel and use the stock metal wrench, it works ok but sometimes scratches!
Tightening with the plastic wrench ensures a scratch free install but what about removal? Perhaps im tightening too much? I always find plastic niblets from the rim that grinded away from tightening, is that too tight?

man, you're worried about that
just take your car and put it on a shelf.
If scratched wheel nuts bother you, try using silver M4 wheels nuts.

Totally, I want my stuff to look good too. I've got into the habit of just replacing them every couple of weeks.

Honestly, I have 3 purple nuts, and 1 blue, I dont care.. They hold the wheels on, I care about doing what im doing fast so im ready for the next race, not keeping my nuts nice and new

ohhh man i cannot stand a different color part on my car! I refuse to run sway bars on my rubber tire car (even knowing its benefits!) because I would have to use either a copper or silver bar on it!
The ugly silver alloy rear outdrives are immediatly replaced with purple alloy units. The stock black M3 nuts securing the shocks to the shock towers are replaced with purple alloy M3 nuts. Front and rear hub carries, even the steering knuckles are replaced for the purple alloy. The stock 16t pulley's are changed for purple 18t alloy's. Last a purple alloy heat sinks is clipped onto the motor can!
if there was a 1/10 Show & Shine class I would always be in the A-main LOL.
