Thanks for posting the link about the Australian Touring Car Masters racing. There are several different type of paint schemes than the usual Trans Am Series paint schemes here in the US.

*** Open question to all folks on this thread ***

How many of you have competed in and won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a VTA Concourse Competition? And do you have pics of the car you entered for the win?

I was in Nashville when 'Team Mopar' won the 2012 Southern USVTA Nationals VTA Concourse.

My pleasure, glad you guys enjoyed it as much as i did
The white and green javelin is inspired by the Donahue Javelin over there i believe.
Looks a very similar style using different colours.
A fair few cars on the grid are a one colour affair but there are a few cars with a little extra effort and imagination invested but still staying true to the time period of the TA.
There are quite a few vids of the touring car masters at various tracks across the country on youtube to enjoy

The Touring Car Masters have a 6 race or so season which they race for a championship so you'd imagine the racing is going to be serious
They must be actually be racing for sheep stations

In the first race there's a Mopar that is black with blue ss stripes what is the name of the model??

I'll take a stab at this and try my best.

The smallest of the group in order of adjustability

Novak Club- very limited adjustments (similar to the SP Cirtix)

Novak Edge/Mongoose- full range of adjustments through the "one touch" button. The mongoose was originally intended to be run with Novak's 380 brushless motors. It was found to be able to handle Novak 540 size 25.5/21.5's as well.

Speedpassion Cirtix- very limited adjustments and requires the program box.

Reventon/Justock- Full range of adjustments, I beleive they also will require a box.

The XBR/Havoc/Slyder are all about the same size and have basically the same adjustments through the "one touch" button. (The XBR was my personal favorite)

The GTB series as well as the LRP are the largest foot print of the bunch. The LRP was limited in adjustment, and is now a discontinued item.

The entire Novak line of esc's have thermal protection built in for the motor as monitored by the "blue wire" from the motor timing sensor. There is a note in each of their sport esc's mentioning specifically that they will only work with their motors.

Some of these esc's have a lower amp rating in the BEC circuit and may require the use of a "glitch buster" when used with certain radio and servo combo's. If it doesn't specifically say it has a 6V/3A BEC, then be safe and use a "glitch buster".

If your looking to piece together a system, then the under $80 NIB esc's would be the Club,Cirtix,Reventon,Justock with the Club at the high end and the Cirtix at the low end.

The best budget starter is the Club combo at around $120 for an SS motor and esc. Then the Edge combo with the Ballistic at $160. The Edge/Ballistic combo will give you the most overall adjustability and the esc is rated to be able to run down to a 10.5 motor as well as being suitable for the 2 wheel of road clases.It does however, fall into that 2 amp category.

Some of them were before the charger took over racing duties.
They were the pacer cars which looked like the dodge dart but before those they ran the ap5-6 i believe in the early days.

Thanks VERY much for taking the time to provide all of that information, it was quite helpful!

I think I'm now leaning toward either the Hobbywing Justock or the Novak Edge. I like to have the option of running a very strong drag brake. Are these two comparable in that sense?

I can only watch about 4.5 minutes of that TCM race before Youtube thinks it's done. I downloaded it and WMP does the same thing at around the 11 minute mark and I can't seek past that point either.
Anyone else?

Not really, they both are adjustable though to get the feeling you want. IMO, hobbywing based products have a smoother/"spongy" feel on the brake side. It may just be me though.
