Cool

Hey Scott....Hows it going?

Just an opinion here. The so called hub caps were called wheel dots back in the day. I guess I thought spec wheels, spec tires, spec bodies and hopefully a decant paint job was for the purpose of making the cars actually look like VTA cars. So, an ugly paint job and "Wheel Dots" seems contrary to the class concept.....but I guess nobody wants to turn away a racer????

I agree with you, Ross. While I'm not too upset about the paint scheme, wheel dots on a VTA car aren't acceptable to me.

under official USVTA rules, there should be three (or four) numbers on the car, AND a driver figure.

A lot of tracks are too lax in the VTA requirements. It does not take much to do a car with one can of paint, maybe some stripes, and finish it off with numbers.
85% - 90% of the drivers where I race are inline with the VTA rules.

My guess would be it is a practice body. I totally get the discs. I would have made them look like wheels though.

That wasn't a practice body. We should just be happy that the class returned to the Birds and not worry about how the bodies looked.

I see a number on the car. I assume there's more than 1. I can imagine a low-budget team hand painting numbers on the cars. As for the driver figure, if it passed tech, it's good, right? "Spirit of VTA' doesn't mean every car has to be an exact race replica.

Hey Scott (Nutdriver)- flyingm is still Gary, not sure what Ross's ID is???

I think the real question above was concerning the wheel dots. Let the individual promoter make the decisions, but it seems that putting wheel dots over VTA wheels is like putting a paper bag over a Camaro body. Kind of defeats the purpose of a class based primarily on a certain look. Certainly wheel dots would have no real function in VTA.

It's really fairly simple. If you're going to run USVTA then follow the USVTA rules and guidelines.
