My car corner balances better with a full size 5000 mah pack so that's what I run even though it has way more capacity than I could ever need. I run on asphalt so I don't ever break my tires in. I don't always use tire sauce, either. But I've run brand new tires on carpet before and they stunk compared to my used tires that were raced on asphalt. I've heard it can take a full day of racing on carpet to break in new tires. I might consider taking Simple Green to them to make sure the mold released has been fully removed from the tires, too.

something you could try is LG1 to open the pores in the rubber up, and then later normal carpet compound, don't run out there with LG1 on the tires. I just run them for awhile and practice, by the time they come in, you'll be getting a feel for the difference in how they handle, they aren't TOO bad with full compound front and back and let it soak (SXT 3.0). our track is medium to high grip CRC oozite carpet, but even on a green track, this has worked for me. Depends on if you can adjust setup for it too. I tend to get good setups for a loose track down, and struggle when grip comes up to keep the speed......

Unless you are overweight, I don't know why you would run shorty packs. Even with a full size pack you will be adding some weight. Get the largest mAh allowable (5000) pack to keep the highest possible voltage to your motor. Then balance your car from there. If you run a shorty pack you probably will be running a 4200 or something close which will typically net you .1 to .2 volts less for the entire run. I'll take all the volts I can get. The shorty packs let you cut weight on your heavy car or truck but with VTA almost everyone is adding weight even with a full size battery. You will only be adding considerablly more with a shorty. Hope this helps.

A shorty helped me get my TC4 to 1550. The weight savings was worth the loss of volts in that case.

But with any "modern" chassis, they're not necessary.

I had to add weight to my tc4 with a full size 5000mAh battery to hit 1550. I don't know how you could be that much over to need a shorty? You must have had a lot of paint on that body!!!

I have to agree with you, wwddww34. I like to support McAllister, though. They are a pretty small operation without the support that PF has.
