The same holds true for asphalt racing also.

Depending on the track size/layout it can make a difference. With my TC6, I alternate between a front spool and a gear diff w/ 200k oil.

LOL! I just did the same exact thing! But it looks like I may need 3 sets of fronts to one set of rears.

Okay, here's another tire wear question for y'all... Obviously, as a tire wears, it becomes just a bit shorter. In a more severe example (like my tires), the fronts are noticeably shorter than the rears. Is that tire difference enough to cause adverse handling characteristics? I mean, effectively the front tires are spinning slightly slower than the rears due to the difference in overall circumference. Or am I just overthinking this?
As the fronts wear out they become a smaller diameter. You might have to adjust your ride height to compensate for that. Also you should begin to notice more steering as the tire wears. Most people notice that the tires don't really work well until they are over 1/2 worn out. New tires = less steering, worn tires = more steering.

Tommy, you are overthinking it a bit. The overall circumference is minute and really doesn't factor that much, even in scale. Full size cars face the same wear patterns to a large degree but you are still talking no more that an inch or so on a full size car.

The only thing that makes me believe it could be an issue is because we're running AWD with no center diff whatsoever to account for front/rear tire height differences. And thanks to drifting, I know how much a factor it can be when the rear is spinning faster than the front.

But like I said, it's perfectly possible it's a non-factor, but that's why I'm asking.

Commenting on old VTA tires being a smaller diameter than new tires...

Actually the opposite can also be true....... Believe it or not, depending on what chemicals you are using to clean your tires and what traction compound you use, the VTA tires can grow (swell) larger in diameter compared to new tires. It is enough to affect your ride height and overall gearing rollout.

New tire on the left, used (but not worn out by a long shot) tire on the right.

+1 on that! My tc6 goes into a push on somewhat bald skins in the front. Also in my opinoin install a complete new set at that time. Only because of swell on rears

+1

I ran my old T2'07 up til I replaced it with my new T4'13. The T2 models are perfect for VTA and can be found real cheap, with lots of upgrades and spare parts along with it. Thing is that they are built like a tank, you can crash the crap out of them and rarely break anything. Money saved on replacement parts is a good thing over the season

I'm glad you posted this as this as my previous experience has been similiar. Our track uses Paragon Ground Effects and a new set of tires is firmer and smaller. After a month of racing the tires have ballooned up and have lots of grip.

I am sure this has been asked before, but the search function is horrible when using my phone. Are the tuning rotors from Novak legal and if so which ones? Thanks

No, just the 12.3mm rotor that comes in the motor is legal.
