Exactly right! I was only 1 when it was racing, not quite old enough to remember it. But I was into cars when I was that young !

hmmmm Im still running ball diff front and rear. Ill have to look up a spool ad gear diff to see if that will help me some. I also have been running both ball diffs set the same, not front tighter like snoop suggested. Would changing diffs be something that might help me out some?

for rubber tire spool or tight ball diff or heavy gear diff up front and reg smooth ball or gear diff in rear...

my TC5/6/6.1 all have gear diffs with 40wt oil and spools up front...

No, I do not actually run usvta. That is not for a lack of desire, it is for lack of a track. Onelug is the closest track to me, but they are 1.5hrs away. I just can't make the commitment to race regularly enough with that kind of a drive. If anyone ever opens an on road track in Birmingham I'll trade my b4.1 in on a vta car that day. If the track is big enough to run 1/8 scale my Agama a8e will become an Agama a8egt (probably the 1st ever).

I will be in Atlanta the weekend of gorc, but Saturday I'll be at stonemountain all day w/ my son's scout troop. I was hoping to stop by Sunday, until I realized Saturday was the last day. I do plan on stopping by some offroad tracks east of Atlanta sunday.

What gear diff you running in the TC5? After ALOT of reading in the TC5 thread people say they have used the Spec-R, Yoko 40t and the top photon with modifications....only 1 I can find on amain is the top photon. Ill order me a spool for the front for sure....just wish I knew this last week when I ordered $160 worth of parts and extras, due here tomorrow lol.

Im in same boat as you track wise. Closest to me is Hot Shots in Marietta at 1.5 hours then Thunder in Nashville at about 2 hours. So I dont get to race much either. Jeep on 35's does like to GUZZLE the gas lol.

The spool will help you more than the gear diff. It bites on power and pulls the nose that way. My Photon is on two gear diffs but the front one is really heavy viscosity. Its almost a spool. I like the little bit of give to it though.

Yea man, must stick with the ball diff. The only real difference is the lack of maintenance with the gear diff.

But something about the box setup just worked so well for asphalt VTA racing

It's too wide I tried

A narrow one from something with a bunch of shims might work

I use a ball diff in my T3. It seems to work better and it's easier to adjust. With my gear diff if I want to make it tighter or loose to have to tear it apart. With the ball diff I just stick a hex in it and turn and it adjust.

They say the 6.1 wont work due to how the pulleys are set up or something. The ones I listed that people are using have to be shimmed alot I guess. Ill just drop a spool in the front and stick to ball diff in rear
