1/12th scale pan car racing has been around for decades. Tamiya is once again part of the action with its new, modern designed RM-01 chassis (RM=Racing Master). The 1/12 GT class is a new class to TCS and is perfect for advanced to expert racers that enjoy direct drive pan car handling with realistic body choices offered by Tamiya.
About the RM-01
The Tamiya RM-01 chassis is a direct drive pan car with a pivot ball rear link suspension and front independent suspension using a king pin design.

Solid rear axle/2WD direct drive train
Uses foam tires

That's the 956 body but the body post holes and wheel wells are not cut out...is that the Frewer copy or is that how Tamiya is doing the car now? Is is out?

The expected date they arrive at our warehouse in So Cal is December 16 or there about. From there they will be shrunk wrap and sent to Hobby Distributors that have them on order from TA.

More updates.
Hope to have it wired up soon.
Found a simple way to use standard 64p spur gears.
72t will not clear the diff backing plates, 78t fits fine.
Standard 12th rear wheels fit, but maintaining ride height will require larger diameter tires than most 12th scale cars run, Tamiya apparently wanted this car to run 52-45mm tires, try much smaller than that and the chassis will run out of clearance.
Options I see are to use Tamiya RM-01 foams, or F1 foams.
Full size Jaco Rear tires will work, just...
To check max rollout, that's a 78x55 gear for 116+mm roll and stock 52.5mm tires.
Gear selection shouldn't be an issue for 17.5 blinky 1s where 85-110mm roll are the average over a broad range of motors and tracks.
Hope to have it wired up soon.

What do you think:
1) how does the plastic look? Is it stiff enough vs. durable enough?
2) how does the body length appear? Looks like it's long in both the front and rear, will it affect running on a tight track?
3) does the front ride height look easily adjustable? Standard shims or something else? Standard rear ride height adj or Tamiya unique?
4) would you run the 380 motor when you run against us so we have a chance?
