Default Enduro!!

I used mine in a sort of enduro race, first to reach 200 laps, each team is composed of 2 car, 2 drivers, I used my 04-4 and my partner used an mr4tc-sp

Its a great for that kind of race for the folowing reasons:
1. Its indestructable! (my partner clipped a corner and broke arms) that happened 2 times. If I clip a corner nothing happens!!

2. Its failry light

tips: change your belts to new ones before the race, and also check your ball cups, if allowed enlarge the underside of the chassis where the motor sits so more air flow. and do not use the battery strap, just tape the battery, its faster that way.

We finished 4th, because my partner broke his car 2 times.

use a 12-15 turn motor.

Default TCS teching...

Has anyone here had any experience at a TCS race? I do understand that you must (for the most part) use Tamiya parts but can anyone describe the teching process that they go through? They don't make you tear down your car, do they?

Has anyone heard of a new TA04 TRF kit?

I heard a rumour that it was being show at the Nuremburg (sic?) Hobby Show?

One of the changes is incorporation of alloy suspension mounts so you can change roll centre a-la 414.

Anyone have any info... pics... ?

Default QUESTION??

Hello!! Can I use the Aluminum Hinge Pin Mounts on the TRF414M2 on the TAO4-R??

Or can I just Place spacers where the hinge pin mounts are screwed so I could lower the car a bit more?

Has any body tried this?? Thanks!

Lem

Get a bigger spur gear.

You don't want to overgear a mod by using a 83t spur and too big of a pinion.

Post NEW TA04 TRF

taken from the german toy fair press releases:

"Tamiya has done the impossible by taking the top-performance TA04-R to an even higher level. Adding an all-new front one-way to the existing center one-way, this chassis realizes even higher drive efficiency. Suspension areas have been "suped-up" with fluorine-coated TRF dampers and suspension blocks. "

Yes, new '04R is sweet. Silvery graphite, new sway bar mounts, blue aluminum arm mounts.

If I didn't know better, that phrase alone would make me dismiss the car as nothing more than a toy. What you say and how you say it is very important. Tamiya should hire a better translator.

"suped-up" is ghetto speak.

while I agree with Madjack that it does look very nice, I see exactly what Iso Octane is talking about. It's all about marketing.
I love Tamiya and I love my TA04, but come on!! Tamiya has already milked the TA04 for all it's worth, with this new TRF version it makes 7!! Count them seven different versions,
-The original TA04
-TA04S
-TA04pro
-TA04pro(blue edition)
-TA04R
-TA04SS
-TRF TA04
Are we going to see David, Jimmy or Surikarn race this car competitively, the answer is no. They might race it once or twice
just to create a buzz, and have people get excited about, and dump $350 to $400 bucks for it. But that's about it. The 414M2
has proven itself very competitive, and the up and comer TBEVOIII
is rumored to be even faster, already winning a couple of important events.
So as much as it may suck, we're not going to read headlines about one of Tamiya's top drivers taking a world championship with this car. The only purpose for releasing a car like this is to make $$$$$.
I know many will disagree, but come on, think about it.
