I'll try that with lower arm. I put links on front. Also have reinforced lower with some carbon fiber flat stock. Used same to stuffing wing as well.

I tried brass wire ( I have since been told to use piano wire ) and shoe gooed it to the bottom of each arm, top and bottom arms... no breaks all weekend...

I think the trick is the adhesive has to have flex... friend of mine tried a hard drying epoxy and it would just snap apart when you bend it...

I have a Rabbit kit that allows a 104 front end coming from China, but just found out yesterday that this would eliminate the cool scale drop down front nose ... I don't think I can do that...
Charles, try this place: http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/Prod...nd_kevlar.html

I had some left in the garage from repair of my 1:1 scale race cars. Resin was knda dry but seemed to still stick. You might also try some fiberglass mat like that used to repair auto bodywork. Be careful not to overheat if you use CF. The plastic will melt if you do! Good Luck!!! Andy PS- Let me know how you like the Rabbit convertion.

Actually, doing it like a CF lay up with mesh at 45 degree to straight line of arm. Use a very light coat of resin or CA under mesh and then use resin applied with a flux brush evenly over the lay up, then use a heat gun to cure it. Be careful not to use too much heat or the arms will be distorted. Normal lay up would require an oven or autoclave, but the arms couldn't stand 350-400 degrees. It is the sort of repair done at 1.1 scale tracks for damaged CF wings and bodywork. This is very light weight and if done correctly would even look pretty good (I am not patient enough, however! LOL).

Wouldn't one of these strips work? Shoo glue them underneath the arms?

Thats what I used on the lower arms. 2.5 x 1.5 sounds about right. Have not tested it yet. I used CA, and I'm not too confident in it. Will probably use something else to bond it.

Quick question. Do the Tamiya f104 rubber tires fit the FGX wheels? If so will the A compound be good for a carpet track with a 65 degree surface temp?

I wouldn't use Shoe Goo...too flexy...CA or Epoxy would be best.

No, Tamiya tyres don't fit the standard FGX rims. The FGX wheels use the smaller inner diameter of the Ride wheels/tyres, so need to use Ride tyres with them.

That sucks. How is the F1 class gonna take off if there is no standardization like there is in TC?

Just bought a set of f104 tyres to go on the car.

So it's not ride 104 tyres is it the Hpi ride f1 tyres that fit?

Thanks

Ride 104 tyres will fit the FGX rims... Tamiya 104 tyres won't.
Ride use a different sized wheel, with a smaller (more scale?!) diameter... note on the tamiya rims that you have the flat bit outside the traditional "rim", the Ride's don't have this.
