The stock (all plastic) dampers seem rather leaky... Other than the available AE aluminum dampers, what are you using for dampers on the TC4?

recently heard FDR for shaft cars vs belt cars for same power plant should be different...does anyone know if it should be a higher or lower FDR number for shaft drives? I'm thinking that maybe one of the reason i have been a tad slower than the fastest 2 guys in VTA (21.5) who run modern belt drive cars.

I've ran the stock body shocks with the VCS2 upgrade all season and they have been great. No leaks and no air bubbles. Very consistent.
If the AE plastic dampers are threaded, then you can add the yokomo(#ys8d) bladders& foams to them to decrease the internal oil pressure and stop the leaks... After that mod, all my AE shocks stopped leaking and got very consistant...
As for the gearing shaftdrive cars vs beltdrive cars, my conclusion is that you need take the belt Car fdr and subtract 0.4 to it to get a matching speed out of a shaftdrive Car... If the belt cars are geared at 4.1fdr,, then you need to gear your tc4 at 3.7fdr to gain an advantage in the straights, while not really giving up anything in the infield.... That's with a free drivetrain of course...

Well, I geared mine at 0.4 lower than everybody after a breakdown, and removing all the rubber shields from the bearings, running teflon shielded Bearings on all the axles, and running aluminum outdrives/spool, carbon driveshaft, lightweight Tires, and a 168gram battery pack(vehicle at 1422grams)..... Maybe Desert ran all his Parts stock and steel, so that's why his motor overheated...
If you add ceramic Bearings, lightweight input shafts, hirosaka gears, polished 12.5mm rotor, ceramic motor Bearings, and Car wax to the mix, you can gear down to 3.6fdr without overheating, but I guess it won't qualify as a regular tc4 anymore........

So basically you've been making gearing recommendations based on a funky car with a torque rotor and a light battery? I have a direct, cut-and-paste test of what he is asking, these cars aren't magic, they're just cars.
Belt cars have seen lots of upgrades, Trf 416 to 418, Xray T2 to T4, schumacher mi1to mi5, but the tc4 is still the same with no upgrades, unless you come up with your own upgrades.... Why should the belt cars benefit from these upgrades and not the tc4 ? Why is it sacrilege to upgrade your tc4 or inspire others to do the same??? I am sure nobody is saying the Xray T4 14 is some funky Car with a torque rotor and a light battery pack vs the T4 13 !!!! Drop the double standard , and start making your own way, that's my philosophy, funky or not !!!

Now , after my calculations, the dc4 le chassis(without the motor hole) can go down to 70mm width without any issues, for the thinnest chassis design in the market, but a new CF plate with no motor holes will need to be cut down to the 70mm width !!! Also, very small electronics will be necessary to complete the car: tekin esc, spektrum receiver,bls551 servo, etc...... Hopefully, the next dc4 chassis will be that revolutionary....Come on diggity design team, do us proud !!!.....Cheers...
