Even the o-rings will cause restriction with suspension arm movement. Take your shocks off of the arm, make sure the o-rings are installed, and move the arm up and down... the o-rings will act as a bushing and restrict the free up and down movement. You will see them pinch between the ballcup and the neck of the ballstud as you move the arm up and down. Take them off and do the same test and the restriction will be gone. What will happen is as the suspension is compressed through a corner (bound), the o-rings will resist compression, but the other side will fight against the spring (rebound) as the o-rings will limit downtravel. The car will feel as if it has less overall traction, and on a high bite surface, it can be very responsive and twitchy to drive. We used to pack the ballcups with AE black grease to damp the chatter caused by a sloppy front end, it worked well but was high maintenance. The rubber bands do the trick with little suspension restriction, and maintenance.

No restriction here using them with the new silver broached ball studs and AE ball cups-other cups I don't know. I have free movement on all four arms including steering. You only use so much travel in the arm where if there is any restriction, it's not in the travel you're using ie; 5-7mm ride height.

6277 broached silver ball stud is the stock ball stud...
i suppose used on the steering rack its going to change the ackerman a bit due to its added length... but you can probably equalize it using the inside hole onthe steering block...
personally i just give the rack a little tlc and it works fine with a small amount of slop...

The slop in the steering rack isn't a huge issue as long as your rack works smoothly and your car tracks straight. Like AMO3GT mentioned you do need a little slop. If you take all the slop out of a car it will never track straight. Found this out years ago when racing dirt oval. I was really proud of mysleft for shimming all the slop out of my car only to find out that it would never track straight. Actually took a few shims out of the car to get some slop back and the car tracked perfectly.

assuming you can have perfect 0 toe in/out...
you'd need camber 101% equal left and right, ride height 100% equal all 4 corners, weight balance perfect left and right...
the real world says that this is basically impossible... and if you somehow got your car to be this perfect, all it would take would be a slight tap of a dot or board to get it out of perfect... an acceptable amount of play in all the components ensures that everything moves freely, and that the car has a small buffer for imperfections such as weight balance or setting differences +/-... under load everything basically "locks" into place anyway...
