4 cell discharge
can somebody tell me for sure how to discharge 4 cell packs.
From what I read on the box it says to put the cells to the far left in the tray, not to the right.
Please confirm whether I am doing it right or wrong.

Does the Novak unit...
discharge at 30amps?

When looking at the front of the Novak tray, the pack must be to the far left. Remember the polarity AND the location of the battery bars must be in the correct place as displayed on the front of the tray.
My latest battery ritual for my newest packs is to use the Novak tray to equalize the pack down to 0.9v per cell after they have been discharged on the lightbulbs or charger. Then when the day ends I discharge them on the new Integy 30amp discharger down to 0v and then deadshort until the next weekend.

Well I got my Novak Smart Tray today, and I am VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
I had the Much More Racing Zero-V discharge tray and I was disgusted by its quality. I guess you buy cheap, you buy twice. Or you can take it back and get the money credited to a Novak Smart Tray. I used it today at a big race meet here in Victoria Australia for the first time (picked it up from a mate at the track) and I was thrilled with its performance. I would recommend this product to ANYONE. But..... I'd recommend any Novak product, and I'm not even sponsored by them!!!!

my smart tray should be in the mail 2morrow. is there any advice u can give me on sitting the tray up? or advice in general on operation. I'm new to hobby and want to care for my batteries properly because I've spent a good chunk of change on my packs.
I charger on a new version millenium pro @ 6amps running fusion packs. 1.117 and 1.118s none of my packs are lower. other than practice packs and won't mention how low and old those are but they are gp3300 mimh lol

It's a little easier if the pack is built so that when the pack is in the tray the wires face "out", but they'll fit sorta ok the other way...as long as the wires extend past the top edge of the pack, so that the Deans plug doesn't get in the way.
I just flipped some of my packs to make them fit better. Battery packs can only go in the tray one way, so I moved the wires so that they all fit my tray really nice.

my novak smart tray has been running very hot lately! why? i have been discharging some packs on it that have had charge in them. is this it? i heard you can do this with the novak. also i have disasembled it and tightened the heat pad metal brace down tight (obviously not enough to break anything) could it be that this has made the heat transfer to the metal case more efficient?
i installed a little fan into the inside of the unit after this, but only marginally improved heat disipation.
