Hi just got one of these motors for 17.5 boosted, i have been useing a duo 3 and was wondering as the thunder power is set at 20 deg how that compares to a duo set on the center mark.

Thanks Stuart

If I recall correctly at that setting our motor has 10* less timing than the D3.

would you use the same rotor going from 17.5 non boosted to 17.5 boosted touring? and which rotor would be best, stock (red), blue, or green?

Either the Green (TPM-R540AHT) or Blue (TPM-R540AST) will work for your application. I always suggest to drivers that they purchase both. Start with 35* static timing and around 4.0 to be safe with both rotors. I've found that the green rotor ends up being about 2 teeth taller (lower numerically) than the blue rotor. You want the temp to be around 135* - 140* after 3 mins and around 150* - 160* after 6 mins.

What is the determining factor on which to use? Size of the track or do the two option rotors just need to be tested back to back?

Both of what you mentioned and personal preference (feel) as well.

What is the length of the outer case from faceplate to the rear shoulder not including the rear bearing retainer? I'm hoping its 45mm or less. And then what is depth from the edge of the shoulder to the bearing retainer? Hoping for 5mm or more there.

Thanks,

John

I come up with 46.15 mm faceplate to shoulder and 2.25mm protruding from shoulder to end of bearing. Is this what you're looking for?

Exactly! Thank you. I'm getting a 21.5 for my Sakura FGX F1, should be here next week.

Default Suggested Set Up

Any suggestions for a good safe starting point for the set up of a TP 21.5T touring car in "blinky" class.

Our club is about to change from 540 brushed to 21.5 blinky early next year, so have just purchased a TP motor and would like to set it up and give it a run in practice.

On our track 540 brushed generally run a FDR of no more than 4.46 to give good speed down the short straight and enough punch through the infield.

Need to know a good starting point for FDR and timing.

After seeing how the TP 21.5 went that night at the track I'm tempted to add it to my new stock of brushless motors.
Will be interesting to see how it'll go hooked up to a Tekin rs.

Cheers
Rob.
