I posted this in Paul L's thread in response to a question about the TP motors.
I am obviously not Paul and dont want to step on his toes but I ran the 17.5 TP motor this past weekend in TC blinky class (Zero timing). I did not have any of the option rotors to play with but this thing was fast! I still dont have the setup down 100% on it but it was every bit as fast as my Duo 3 motors that have been pretty much untouchable by anything else. On they dyno its as good as the D3's as well. Construction and quality are great as well. Seems TP has got a contender here for sure! EA _________ |
How many people agree that this has resemblance to Novak Ballistics?
Motor looks cool! Hope to see Paul L testing it more. He has had motors from what I have read, but keeps running his Epic motors. |

Looks like a Ballistic stator shoved into a painted LRP X12 can. The endbell looks original, though. :sweat:

did you notice that the motor screws are on the back of the motor,
that means...... I'm glad I never notched my top deck. hopefully I'll be able to jump on the band wagon somewhere around august if theres still room. |

I'm so conflicted... the red part looks dialed, but the chrome reminds me of brushed motor cans, kinda cheap looking.
Now, I know it's the track that matters, and I agree... but all other things being equal, which they pretty much are these days, aesthetics is about the only thing differentiating motors anymore. |
Agreed. Maybe it's just the pics, but the chrome on the endbell kinda makes it look cheap and flimsy. :(

Its not as Chrome as the pic looks. More silvery color. It does resemble a Novak as the stator can be bought separate. The timing ring, endbell and everything else look different. They are all very well constructed. The Rotors are super dialed looking and TP takes a different approach to the different rotors by making different lengths instead of diameters for performance.

I have many runs on my tp motor and it has been rock solid...ive been running the 17.5 but will get to try the mod this week.
