Thunder Power RC have introduced their all-new Z3R-S Stock Spec and Z3R-M Modified 540-Class sensored brushless motors for cars, trucks, buggies and more. The Z3R-S Stock Spec motors are available in 10.5T, 13.5T, 17.5T and 21.5T winds, while the Z3R-M Modified motors are available in 3.0T, 3.5T, 4.0T, 4.5T, 5.5T, 6.0T, 6.5T, 7.5T, 8.5T and 9.5T winds, all ROAR approved and ready to race at sanctioned events and beyond. Z3R motors are easy to maintain and tune with a fully rebuildable design and are supported by a full line of replacement and option parts, including ROAR approved tuning rotors, that keeps them optimized and on the track. Each motor is constructed from high-quality materials including a balanced, high-strength neodymium rotor, high-temperature coated copper wire and plated copper solder tabs, while features including easy-to-set adjustable timing from 0—50 degrees and fast-switching, high-temp sensors make it easy to maximize performance. Designed and developed from the ground-up, tested rigorously and race-proven in the hands of top racers world-wide including Paul Lemieux and others, Z3R 540 brushless motors are built to deliver maximum performance and reliability and are backed by Thunder Power RC’s industry-leading 2-year warranty and 2-years of 50% off damage replacement program coverage.

I posted this in Paul L's thread in response to a question about the TP motors.

I am obviously not Paul and dont want to step on his toes but I ran the 17.5 TP motor this past weekend in TC blinky class (Zero timing). I did not have any of the option rotors to play with but this thing was fast! I still dont have the setup down 100% on it but it was every bit as fast as my Duo 3 motors that have been pretty much untouchable by anything else. On they dyno its as good as the D3's as well. Construction and quality are great as well.

Seems TP has got a contender here for sure!

How many people agree that this has resemblance to Novak Ballistics?

Motor looks cool! Hope to see Paul L testing it more. He has had motors from what I have read, but keeps running his Epic motors.

Will they puff like the batteries?;)

Kidding aside, they look nice! If Paul was in on the design im sure there dialed:D

Looks like a Ballistic stator shoved into a painted LRP X12 can. The endbell looks original, though.

did you notice that the motor screws are on the back of the motor,

that means...... I'm glad I never notched my top deck. hopefully I'll be able to jump on the band wagon somewhere around august if theres still room.

bigb11 01-05-2011 06:42 PM

where and when will they be availible?

And the clearly marked timing ring with a fancy pointer thingy that tells you EXACTLY how much timing your running :p

syndr0me 01-05-2011 06:48 PM

I'm so conflicted... the red part looks dialed, but the chrome reminds me of brushed motor cans, kinda cheap looking.

Now, I know it's the track that matters, and I agree... but all other things being equal, which they pretty much are these days, aesthetics is about the only thing differentiating motors anymore.

Serzoni 01-05-2011 07:17 PM

Agreed. Maybe it's just the pics, but the chrome on the endbell kinda makes it look cheap and flimsy. :(

EAMotorsports 01-05-2011 08:30 PM

Its not as Chrome as the pic looks. More silvery color. It does resemble a Novak as the stator can be bought separate. The timing ring, endbell and everything else look different. They are all very well constructed. The Rotors are super dialed looking and TP takes a different approach to the different rotors by making different lengths instead of diameters for performance.

I have many runs on my tp motor and it has been rock solid...ive been running the 17.5 but will get to try the mod this week.
