100 times better.... wow the car must drive itself!

What is the cost of an NT1 diff vs Spec R? I have the Spec R and like it - however, I'd be interested in the NT1 diff for another car.

Just need to know what size pinion to buy ...
gear ratio = (spur teeth/pinion teeth)x 2.055 for the TRF416
is it (2.055)the same for TRF 417 ?
I believe TRF417 has an internal ratio of 37T / 19T = 1.9473.

The exact parts are listed in the T3 thread somewhere, basically you need a complete NT1 diff, a Tamiya pulley, and a way of cutting the inside out of the pulley cleanly

have not heard of an NT1 gear diff for use on a tamiya.
It's the exact same conversion just with the tamiya 37t pulley instead of the xray 38, for the tammy you need another 1mm of shims

The cost is higher for the NT1 diff but the quality is much better. Mine hasn't leaked a drop and there is less backlash in the gears. I guess it will also mean you can run a lighter oil, not that I've tried, but that's a failing of the Spec R - anything lighter than 1000wt and it just leaks out

*sigh*

Unexpected XMas bonus = TRF417. Just got my shipping notice from Speedtech. Now I need to figure it out before Snowbirds in a month.

Anybody else planning to run a 417 at Snowbirds?

I guess I need to get my 416WE and 416 ready to sell.

Cool, same here. I guess my X will be the spare.

I wonder if Jilles is going this year?

My guess is no since he just had a baby, but you never know. His car was amazing last year. I really wish I ran my 416 last year instead of running my 009'.

Sorry if this has already been answered (I couldn't find it with a search), but are the body posts in the same position as the 416x?

They are.

Syndrome the car is really good on carpet. I'll know more this weekend since I'll get to run good tires and a real race body. None of that TCS stuff!

Cool, definitely let us know what you think. It took me a while to come around to the X on carpet, it never really seemed to rotate like my WE could. But, it still does fine, and I think it's more consistent over a run than the WE.

My 417 should arrive in time for me to be gone for a week visiting family!

Are you running foams or rubber? The only thing that concerns me is that foams and carpet really benefits from a stiff chassis (the original trf415 was epic with it's 3mm chassis) the 417 seems to be the opposite judging by it's description.
