Ok, thank you for the reply, I may look into the Xray pieces as mentioned previously. Thanks!

Hy there!

I wanted to ask how you all run your Lipos. In the forward, or backward position?

Greetings Rainer

I'm in the process of getting a spare parts order around for a new 417X. I plan on running the car in a 17.5 blinky class on a low/medium traction carpet track. The only part I'm not sure of is what spur gear I should get. I have seen setups with spurs ranging from 88-105.

What are most people running? Is there a particular brand I should get, I know access to the motor screws is an issue? Has anyone tried the RW spurs from Speedtech?

Thanks for the input!

Regarding the shorter arms, that makes sense. So any body is legal for TCS, interesting...

Car Body
All car bodies must be painted and must be cut along the trim lines. You are not allowed to create extra vent holes for the purpose of ventilation or performance enhancement. Leaving extra material below the trim lines of the body is prohibited.
All car bodies must use the wings that are supplied in the kit. Mixing and matching ABS plastic wings, between different body styles, is not allowed. Part number 53470 (Lightweight Wing) and 53604 (Racing Wing Set) or any future OPTIONAL wing set is legal for any sedan/sports car body as long as the body is pre-marked with dimples for the option wing mount. See specific class rules for restrictions.
In the spirit of keeping TCS Racing scale in appearance to the public, the Subaru Legacy B4 body (items 53727, 49374 & 53824) is not legal for all GT classes.

The biggest rule of TCS is:

All Tamiya vehicles must use Tamiya parts only. No parts from other manufactures unless specified within this document.

Only Tamiya bodies are legal for TCS races.

The 417X has no issues with the spur gear other than it must have 4 holes opposite for the pulleys.

No need for holes in the gear to access the motor screws.

the rw's from speedtechrc work fine on the 417. they have the 4 holes squared as needed by the 417's center pulley/spur gear holder

Great to hear. Can anyone chime in on spur size for blinky 17.5? Is there a preference, or are people just using anything to get down to 4.0-3.5?

there is a very simple modification you can do to the centre pulleys so they accept almost any type of spur gear. This has been done by lots of people in the UK now and none have had any issues

Default Spur gear size.

I am running a RW 94 tooth, I run on medium sized tracks if that helps.

Cool drill two holes!

Almost any spur gear will work just add two more holes with a hand drill. There will be at least two holes that will line up and that should be all you need so the spur spins true to the pulley. You can drill the holes way over sized just so it will fit and the two holes that do line up will keep everything true!
Just m 2$
P.S. there is one issue, if the spur is too thick then this can be a problem, I just left off the spacer for the thicker spurs. So, any thin spur gear will work.
