You don't really need to make any modifications and it will be very competitive out of the box. Depending on the tracks you race on, adding a gear diff to the front might be a good modification. Some additional springs are always good to have on hand.
RSD DCJs are good if you use the spool. But even though they prevent some front end chatter, I don't believe this translates to faster lap times.

I run a locked front gear diff after further inspection on my second hand tc6.1 bargain
Is it worth getting the double cardan unis because there is virtually no chatter i run 21.5 blinky so not fairly fast but am planning to start the boost soon is it worth the cash?

Reflex racing springs are a good start.
My tip from a pro this week. (not me) . If your grip is up go a harder spring all round it will help the car change direction quicker.

Which is which?
Is this the correct Reedy17.5 motor?
this what I have in my TC6.1
This what I see on the page.
Was there a running change? How do I measure the timing per notch? I bought it second hand from another racer recently.

Any differences? And how do you measure the timing? How many degrees is each notch?

I believe original Reedy version has a slightly smaller diameter rotor, still very quick. One of the local AE drivers gears 46 Pinion/96 Spur/45* Timming for a small tight track. On the new version #956 rotor, I have used 48/96 with 50* timing with good success on similar track.
+1 on recommended on hand spares: C-Hubs, Blades, and front Spool Cups, but overall very durable.
