Are you running boosted or blinky?
This will have a massive effect on gearing.

TC6.1 13,5t engine and carpet track. What spur gear / engine pinion should I take.
Thanks

Start with a 4.5 Fdr for blinky and go up or down based on motor temp.
Aim for a temp of 170-180 after 6 mins with a fan.

Ok, if you are running a "blinky" class which is what I gather from your earlier post, you should get a 96t 64 pitch spur gear. You should then have 36t-44t pinions that will give you a tuning range of 4.36 through 5.33 FDR.
Find out what other drivers are running at your track and use the right pinion to get close to what they are running.
If you intend to race on a regular basis, you will need to purchase a reasonable set of gears to find the right combination for different track conditions and locations. There are too many factors that go into selecting the perfect gear ratio so its always best to have some choices.

If you know what the intended FDR (final drive ratio) is, you can usually find the combination to get you there. If you don't have a FDR calculator, there are plenty of resources available. just google it...;)

Thanks a lot!
That's a good basis now.

Rick,

for future, all is fine in this setup but hpi silver and blue says nothing for me.

how many LBS for that springs? they are compare to ae something?

just my 3groszy

;)

Serzoni 09-21-2012 02:45 PM

The pound rating won't matter. Two different springs can both be 15lbs, but if they're wound differently, they'll have a different feel. He ran HPI springs, so that's what's on the setup sheet.

The closest thing AE is silver all around.

CristianTabush 09-21-2012 03:11 PM

HPI Silver is a 16.2-16.5lb spring. HPI Blue is a 14.4-14.6lb spring.

It's like running RSD Purple and RSD Blue.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but nothing really came up from my search.

What spare parts are good to have on hand for the TC6.1?

CristianTabush 09-21-2012 07:54 PM

Knuckles and caster blocks. Maybe some spare suspension mounts in the event of crazy collisions. Also, some spool cups and blades.

Aside from that, the car is pretty tough.

jha07 09-22-2012 04:52 PM

Thanks, that's not too bad. So arms and rear hubs aren't necessary?

Not really. maybe grab a pack of them just because, but you wont want/need multiples of them like you would the stuff christian listed. I havent broken an arm or rear hub ever

rcguy76559 09-23-2012 06:08 AM

new to onroad seen. picked up a 6.1 will be running blinky class 17.5. Track specs run on is 100ft x 100ft soda prep bumpy low-med grip. So its a tight track do i run spool in front or gear diff in front with really think oil 100000cst. pros and cons

By blades... Do you mean the out drives? Also, what are the knuckles?
Thanks
