Got my kit and trying to get it ready for my 1st season of competitive TC. I ran a few kits years ago but I had no idea what I was doing then.

Spec r gear diff

Hey guys,

I need some help with modifying the Spec R Yokomo Gear Diff.
I just built it and was told you only need to sand back the cam holders a tiny bit for it to slot in. Now I’ve realised the Spec R outdrivers are to small for the TC6 drive shafts.
Can someone tell me how they made their drive shafts fit? Do you need different outdriver??

Cheers..

ok, my car is ready to rock so now i should buy some pinions... ill stay with 87 spur, and motor will be 10.5 Speed Passion. What pinions i should have for that?

Yeah, the balls on the end of the driveshaft are too large so you need to open out the internal diameter of the outdrive. I used a 6.5mm drill bit on a pillar drill. I guess you could slowly remove material using a dremel however.

It's the actual case of the diff and not the cam holders that need sanding back. Where you push the bearing over the diff case it makes the assembly fractionally too wide. You need to take about 0.5mm off each side so it doesn't bind.

I'd go for 20t up to 30t. Personally I've only used 24t to 27t on the various tracks I've been on .

I think XRAY 2.8(16lb) and 2.6 (14.6lb) would also just about do the same job.

Spurs

Guys,

Can I please get some clarity on spur makes.

I know the TC6 can take Team associated and Kimbrough makes, what other makes, if any, will work.

JRXS_chris 04-16-2011 07:26 AM

Xray

RW spurs work they have the hole in them so you can tighten the motor screw.

Thanks Chris,
I'll try to drill the outdrivers, hope I don't destroy the diff!

Silver Can

Hi Guys,

Im trying to fit a silver can to the motor mount, but due to the size of the casing around the axel, I cant seem to put both screws into the motor.

What have other people done, have you slightly filed out the motor mount to allow it to fit?

I am wanting to run this in Pro. I didnt want to move up to the next class yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
