Would this be a terrible idea? Can you still find parts for these at all???

Team associate no longer has an onroad program to my understanding. I would not advise someone to buy an AE car and still be able to sleep good at night. Good cars but you could be in a real pickle if you broke an out of stock piece, they're not being resupplied.

plenty of parts and very good prices.... I havent had any issues getting them....but to be fair I hardly ever break. But I do rebuild with all new parts. They are very good cars and plent of parts out there and upgrades from other companies like ICON and Rebellion for mid motor conversions

...and plenty of empty space for more ballast... if you so choose

skimax 04-16-2021 02:22 PM

another question... instead of the TC7.2, what about a T4 '18?

I can pick up one of those as a slider with an aluminum chassis for $300... good deal??
Not are if the aluminum is better worse than the carbon. :dunno:

Don’t read too far into all the hype here. They all ‘work’ with a bit of patience and setup trial-n-error.. As with any chassis you choose, as mentioned before, just make sure you can get spares. Just visit the websites and see if they are discontinued or not. Maybe online shops still have a stash. Local HobbyStores may have a bin of bits..

Just know what you are looking to get out of the experience. Just looking to have fun on the track or want the greatest potential of running ‘up front’? Maybe somewhere in between?

$0.02

Well it's going to be quite a bit of work to get near the front in USGT. You guys were doing 27-28 laps in Expert and we were 23-26 laps in Sportsman. Still trying to get my average laps into the 12s at Cal's current layout.

Ready to go

OSherman 04-16-2021 09:29 PM

It’s all about preparation.. feel free to ask questions on RaceDay. I’m not one to answer the question of “What’s your setup” but I will be more than happy to assist you in dialing in your car depending on what it’s currently doing vs what you want it to do..

Also ready..

I’m a little partial to HONDA myself...

Anyone run the tamiya AMG body for this class? Love that car and am probably going to go with that body first when I build my car!

OSherman 04-17-2021 06:57 AM

Definitely looks cool on track. I have yet to try it, but if I remember correctly people said it was surprisingly very stable.

I have a friend that works for AMG and works with the GT cars. He said that the owner of tamiya has an AMG GT3 so that’s probably why they 1) have that body in their catalog and 2) made it look so damn good!

can’t wait to build it!
