Uh, what? I agree that USGT is a set of rules. Somehow seemed to have missed the invitation submitted by USGT that asked Can/Am to interfere with those rules. As far as being willing to follow an established set of rules regardless of who's they are, well, if they are good enough for USGT they are good enough for me. Not sure I quite understand what being oblivious and working on my junk has to do with it. Oh, I am retired so I have plenty of time for whatever I like to do.

Okay, maybe I missed something. When did Cam Am change the USGT rules? They are 2 completely different groups. USGT is a class where a bunch of guys came up with a set of rules to run touring cars with more realistic bodies than touring car. Can Am is a completely different bunch of guys with an idea about using handout motors and are adapting the USGT rules for their own class. One doesn't affect the other. As far as I know, the real USGT rules have not changed.
And what is all this nonsense that Can Am will bring about the Apocalypse? All of you are seeing things that just aren't there. The Can Am idea isn't something that they pulled out of a hat. They've been working on it for a couple years. They tried it at a couple different tracks. IT WORKED!!! There's one track I know where they tried it. If there was going to be a battery war, a speed control war, a chassis war, a pepperoni pizza war, it would have happened there. It didn't. The track saw a marked increase in entries. *Disclaimer: They did not use the handout motors in the USGT class, only TC.
Look, if you don't want to run the Can Am rules, don't. Let the class run and see what happens.

You seem to be the only person raising the question.
Let me ask this, and please correct me if I'm wrong.
The national USGT points are calculated by the number of people you race against at that particular participating track. Correct?
Now let's say that track is running the USGT rules, but running Can Am spec motors.

All this being said Rob and I are aware of the issues with the motors and are looking for a viable solution to this issue...hang in there we are aware and are looking into it.

The only other issue I see in USGT in general is that nobody gets charged to go through tech(sealed version), and there are no web posting of who failed/passed and how many times it happened. Just imagine if all racers had to cough up $20 to get their motor teched and sealed for racing with no possibilty to open up the motor without having to pay another $20 again, then it would potentially discourage folks from messing with motors too much and would generate a fair cash flow for the clubs....

If a said track is running USGT rules then they cannot be running CanAM spec motors as that is not part of the USGT rules so that is your answer...they would be running CanAM Gt or whatever they are calling it when they take the established USGT rules and add their made-up motor rules to it. If you want to be eligible for USVTA National Championship points you would need to run the race by rules set forth by the USVTA not a combination of rule sets.
