From your description it sounds like there was also a lot less traction on a cool (60F) unsprayed track so you were probably pushing around that sweeper, which combined with your camber setting would cause the excessive tire wear on the inside of the LF tire. I assume you "stood up the shock" by moving the top shock mount out away from the center of the car. That increases the effective spring rate which would makes the push even worse. You want to be doing setup changes to reduce the on power push.

And lift a little in the sweeper. Just because you're full throttle doesn't mean it's faster. Lift off the throttle a bit and let the car settle and roll through the sweeper. You'll hold a tighter line and save some tire.

You are correct - I originally laid it down 1 hole, but I had 3 different guys tell me to stand it up to go softer. Just checked the Hudy on road set up guide, and sure enough, that says it gets stiffer when you stand it up.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate the education.

Bruce, it really depends on how you stand it up. Had you stood the shock up by moving the bottom in (at least that is possible on my car) it would have made the spring rate softer. Perhaps your best education is that 3 different guys were wrong! Unless I know and trust the racer, I generally don't listen to them (OK I'm polite - usually) - but I've been doing this for a long time. Huddy is good. I used XXXMain. If you have time, change all TC settings one at a time (that is important) to see the effect of each and which changes are easy/quick to do at the track. Then you will know what works and what doesn't and what has big/small affects. But after doing all of that, I can't say I agree with 100% of either Huddy or XXXMain (but very minor exceptions). I tend to like XXXMain. It has a handy chart in the back that summarizes the entire book. All you need to know is if your car is loose or pushing and under which condition (on/off or neutral power) and it gives you a list of things to do to correct the situation.

Perfect! Found a similar chart when I started off road last year and it helped quite a bit. When there are so many changes to make, a guide like this really helps to prioritize. It takes awhile for me before it becomes intuitive. I see he also has an app for your phone or computer

PS - I'm loving USGT. Cool bodies, spec tires, and motors just fast enough to challenge this old guy.

I would strongly suggest supporting learnsetup.com. Martin writes in a very clear manner and makes this hobby more enjoyable for me. This is one of the best values in our hobby.

+1 I hope they fixed the app so that it works on the IPhone again.

Glad to here you are enjoying USGT. Very little from XXXmain didn't port over to off-road. Just a few new things I need to learn.

RC Crew Chief is great tuning program as well.

RcCrewChief is awesome and very in depth. I know the guy that developed it & I always try to stump him, but to no avail!

It always helps when I can't figure something out. Check out his videos & see for yourself.

Had some time yesterday to do some airbrushing. Garage was comfortable to work in. This is a Mercedes CLK body that was given to me by a friend. I've not seen many of these race in USGT class, but that's my plan for it. Faskolor neon yellow and black. Sitting on a Team Associated TC6.
