Just checked with them, it is a pan car body after all. I was so looking forward to running that Le Mans scheme, but maybe I'll throw it on a 350Z or something instead.

Really? I PM'd Rob and/or Kevin on the US Vintage Trans Am Facebook page and the response was that it's legal for USGT.

You guys are asking about 2 different bodies....btw I was the one who replied via FB.

The R91CP is not legal its not a Sedan body.

The R390 is legal its a Sedan body.

Hope this clears this up.

Yeah I just found the R390, that's probably what I'll go with.

So the rules allow this

But not this???

I am not seeing a concernable difference here other than the Riley DP has a really big spoiler that the Nissan does not.

For the record I'm fine with either as they both represent real cars on the track.

Thanks for the clarification, Kevin. My apologies to ICBeloit for the confusion.

I think they both should be outlawed. I would prefer to see more realistic production cars.
Having said that I don't mind the German DTM and Japanese GT cars.

Per rules if the body was made for a PAN car it is not legal. That is the only real difference. Without the rule people could start running WGT or oval bodies etc.

I don't care enough to go look but I also thought that there is a wing rule in USGT whereas it has to be a separate elevated TC style and can't be integrated like it is on the Nissan R91.

According to the first post in this thread any "molded" wing is legal.

I believe that he was taking about integrated (molded-in) wings. 1/8 and 1/12 on-road "door stop"-style
bodies are what is to be avoided.

Alright it was "made" for a pan car. With that understanding, I could copy the mold, mount it to a touring car chassis and take advertising photos, and poof it's "made" for a touring car.

If the body doesn't require any mods for it to fit, it should be legal. The idea I believe was to avoid the super low high down force wgt style bodies live the PF Silvia. I've seem that body run on an xray and the hood had to have cut outs to allow the body to sit proper. That kind of stuff should be illigal.

For all that want to argue about what THEY think should be legal and not, RobK and KevinK are the end-all and be-all of USGT rules. They have a good handle on this. If you don't like the rules, run some other class or speak to your race director about track-specific changes. The RD has the privilege of adjusting the rules at their track. As you may be able to tell, this constant "well I don't like this" on the USGT and USVTA forums is starting to get on my nerves.
