Spec-R Gear diff review
#737
Built my spec R for the TCX
It feels nice and smooth with 1000K oil, but one of the outdrives has about 1.5mm play by which I mean I can pull the outdrive outwards by this amount, th other side has very little movement.
Should I take it apart and add shims so there is no movement at all?

I've done that and it works fine. You have to use an exacto knife to reopen the diff but that's not a real problem. I read somewhere on here the some are using the large o-ring from the Xray NT1 diff ring to help seal the diff. I want to give that a try...you may want to look into it too.

It is not a direct fit by an means. I got it to work.
I used flanged bearing in diff eccentric instead of standard bearing.. and I ground the inside of the alum. ring that fit on diff to work as a spacer on the gear diff...reversed the left and right bulkheads on the chassis so the ecentric doesnt sit into the bulkhead...grind down/reprofile the plastic blades on dogbones so the suspension moves in full stroke.
If you want I can send pics just pm me.
I bought them as some nit wit said they fit on the forum...trust me they dont fit. You can make them fit with lots of fiddling. The tcx bulkheads are much narrow than cyclone bulkheads.
They work great if that is any consolation!

They are listed on Schumacher's website, but they are out of stock. Check my post in the Mi4 thread.
I was on the phone with a sales lady at Schumacher last night to sort out a declined payment, and asked about the diffs. She said she's pretty sure they have them on order, and the website should be updated when they come in stock. I'm gonna keep close tabs on it.
