Hey guys nice to know there is a thread for the xxx-s. Its a great design. I have a spare one lying around and I wanted to know if anybody knew if there was a kit to convert it to a rally car or what parts I would need to turn it into a rally car. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Default Carpet Setup vs Asphalt setup

I been reviewing the carpet setups on LOSI site.

In general it seems like they go with
6 degree hub things upfront, the offset ones in the rear, and diffs on both ends and anti-sway bar up front.

Any other general rules or advice for stock class, medium size carpet track?

Hey everyone,
It has probably been mentioned before but my CVD's seem to bind an awful lot when turning a corner. Is their any way i can fix this or even reduce the binding.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly are your CVD's in good condition? If not, buy the rebuild kit.
Secondly, are they noisy on full lock? Plenty of team drivers used to glue a washer onto the front spindle to reduce chatter.
The noise can also be caused by the CVD's wearing a groove in the outdrive so try replacing these periodically.
Thirdly, the CVD can sometimes catch slightly on the castor blocks.
Try this link for tips on the castor block problem, i know it says it is a problem on the JRX-S but ive seen it on the XXX-S as well using MIP CVD's:

http://www.teamlosi.com/jrxs-page/trick%20tip%20pg2.htm

Hope this helps you. Just send me a pm if you have any more problems!

I prefer not to go with the front swaybar and use the heavier losi carpet springs but thats personal choice!
Use the long belt and pulley hop up kit as it frees up the drivetrain no end and means you dont have to remove every other tooth on the belt.
Dont use a gear adapter in stock, use losi spurs as the adaptor is too heavy for stock and adds to much rotating mass to the drivetrain.
If the carpet is smooth, stick to low pivot blocks and low roll mounts, either 0F & 0R or 2F & 2R.
Run about 5mm ride height (normally this is minimum for UK events!) and 2-3mm of droop.
Rest is personal choice
If you need any more help or if you want me to send you some good setups, just send me a PM. I have loads of setup info on the XXX-S!

Use the Blue spur gear, then try and figure out what you will need for a pinion by asking everyone else what they are running for rollout. What is Rollout you ask?

Check this out:

http://www.motortuningsecrets.com/rollout.html

Depending on the motor and track size, you can figure out what to run.

Hope this helps....

I race my XXX-S with GP3700's no problem. Just tape them in. I've always taped in my batteries, even with 3300's.

as far as gearing goes and roll out, not sure the exact size of tire, so can
t really calculate that, my track is relatively small, and the guys that still run the xxx-s use the yellow spur gear I believe its 108 tooth. I've ran anywhere from a 25 to a 30 tooth pinion with a monster and I still seem to get blown away in the straights, and also just in general. I just put a new comm in the motor, spaced it the best I could, and then I am using the trinity long life brushes, with red on the positive and green on the negative, I also have an epic, p2k2, p2k, to choose from

Me too. Although this isnt really a chassis where tweak is a problem. If you wanna use the strap, put a couple of spacers under the battery posts to raise it up a bit!
