Well folks, time for an update!!
I raced the XXXs seriously for the first time yesterday, too many muppets in the heats meant I qualified 3rd in the B final and lucky to be that high!!.
Managed to get to second after 1st corner carnage and ended up chasing a Pro 3.
On the straights he had me beat ( I was running 26/86 Orion Chrome stock). But not by much, the cornerspeed the Losi generates is amazing and he eventually gave up first spot.
Once in the lead I never lost it!!
So this was my first ever win!!!
When I raced my TC3 the best I managed was a 3rd in the B final, so I'm well happy at the moment!!!

How to get more traction?
I drive the only XXX-S on our home track, and until now I was as fast as the others in the modified A main so it was not a problem to win. We race with foams on a big asphalt track with a tight and twisty infield section, lap times 15.5 sec in average. But now two new Xray Evo2 cars have visible more overall traction than me. I use the very same foams like the others. In practice we tried to follow each other but my car begins to slide while they drive on rails. (good friends, and frankly said I am the better driver, they are a bit new in this category) My car feels well balanced and acceleration and top speed is the same as the others. My setup is this:
Front
40 wt oil
Piston 56
HPI Blue spring
Shocks in position 3
Upper arms in position 3
Pivot support: 0F
Caster: 4 deg
Camber: -1.5
Toe-in: 0
Tires: Foam Ellegi 35
Rear
40 wt oil
Piston 55
HPI Green spring
Shocks in position: 4 outside
Upper arms in position: 3A
Pivot support: 0R
Camber: -2
Toe-in: 2
Front diff very tight, rear diff medium tight
motor 11x2 Orion Core with 88/24 gearing
track: 170x100 feet
Can I change something in the setup to gain more traction? Would it help to reduce weight? The evo2 xrays weight about 1400gramm and my Losi is heavy like a brick with a metal gear servo more than 1600 gramms. (we have weight limit 1400 gramms in modified class).

You could start making the setup softer on each end. Your balance should stay but just have an increase of traction. I have no clue about how the HPI springs compare to the Losi ones so it's hard to say where you are at now compared to what others are running on asphalt with foams.

Can you use .28" titanium threaded shocks for front & rear on the LOSI XXX-S ?

Well had my first race yesterday with my new xxx-s, and all I can say is this thing was on rails! My brokomo never handled this well! Qualified 4th and finished 6th ( under geared bad 26/88 ). I'm planning on moving up to the 19t spec class and need some help on gearing and a good starting set up befor the next race! Any help will be greatly appreacated!

ttr- on foams i run losi purple springs all round.. a spring similar to a losi blue is probably a bit too soft.
you could also try laying down the front and rear shocks.
but it's hard to say without knowing where in the corners are you losing out?
i can post my setup if you'd like to see what's been working for me, or matt francis' setup on the losi page (here) would be a pretty good starting point for foams.

41 pulley on oval
I'm running my XXX-S on a oval this weekend and I'm wondering if anybody has tried running the 41 tooth diff pulley on the front end. Did it help or hinder the cornering of the car.

I use the 41t pulley up front, I run it pretty tight and I find it helps when coming out of corners. But our track is quite small with quite a few hairpins. Others may tell you different, all you can do is try it!

Most of the time I am slow in the middle of the 180 hairpin corners. Entering corners is ok even if my competitors use front one-ways. (It was told somewhere in this forum that a one-way is not good with foams, but I have to see that it's working on asphalt) Coming out of the corners we are equal fast. Would be great to gain a bit advantage at this point.
Until now I was a bit afraid to put in Losi Purple springs because the asphalt has a few bad bumps and the very stiff cars used get airborn. But I will try to put in very hard springs, and at the same timeto lean in the shocks to get a smooth handling.

3/32, 5/64 (ALSO 2mm), 1/16, and .05 (5/100) are the 3 losi screws used
4-40, 4-40 mini, 8-32, and 10-32 are the nuts used
